I couldn't care less about a pot arrest. I am surprised that he couldnt hold off for a week being its a non addictive drug but its pot- who cares. If hes there at 27 wouldnt this be a great pick

The issue is, does he enter the league already in the substance abuse program? If so, at what level? Furthermore, it's not that it was a pot arrest. It's that it was a pot arrest THE WEEK OF THE DRAFT. That is horribly poor decision making.

I just don't think you can trust a man like this with the sort of expectations a first round pick should have. I think there is just as much chance he misses huge chunks of time to suspensions as there is he turns into something special.

I am concern about his decision making or lack of and his turf toe injury.

There is a good chance he and Gregory could both be there at 27.

The timing of his buffoonery is key here. Getting popped for pot during college or during his first couple of years in the league = shame on him. To take a player, no matter how awesome, when he could NOT control himself during the final, most critical step towards getting that long desired NFL gig? Shame on whatever desperate team takes him (probably still be the 1st, but late).

The Cowboys are like that English cattle man in "Young Guns". He'll take reception of all kinds of ruffians.....even that dummy, "Dirty Steve", but there are only so many he can responsibly handle. We are simply reaching critical mass with "Dirty Steves".

Shane Ray is a "Dirty Steve".

If he can't hold off before the biggest day of his life, how will he hold off on a daily basis.

Josh Gordon ruined his career because of it. It does not matter how much talent you have if you're suspended.

I predict he goes 26 to the Ravens. Right before we get a chance to take him.

Yes, due to the arrest, he's automatically entered in. Up to ten random tests per month.

Again, you have to be a complete moron to be entered into the NFL substance abuse program. They test you ONCE per year, and you know when it's coming. All Ray had to do was keep his stash under wraps for another week, and he couldn't do that. Brain dead.

Even worse man, cause he isn't even in the league yet.

more worried about turf toe than pot but hes exactly what we need. he wont last to the 2nd pick. Think we get doctors opinion on toe and if possible take the pick.
I dont see any way Jerry passes here and dont see anyone grabbing the card from his hand. If Balt passes this is the pick.

I agree. If he makes it past the Ravens we take him. Unless someone we like better slides also. For example I would think they would take Melvin Gordon over Ray if they had the choice.

Are the random in season tests only for PEDs? I know that it used to be a once a year test, Stepnoski used that to his advantage during his playing career.

Yes. Recreational drug testing happens, IIRC, when OTAs begin. Same time every year. That's why it's called the idiot test.
