I'm still perplexed that we took smith over Jack. Jack was the more impressive player IMO and more likely to actually play this season. I never understood all the love smith got, great speedy athlete but pure run and hit chaser, Meanwhile Jack had more INTs than most DBs, including Ramsey.
That said, really hope smith turns out to be all the scouts thought and I'm just wrong.

Jack had a whopping 4 interceptions TOTAL in 3 seasons at UCLA.

So I am not sure where you are going with that point.

Jack is a LB yet snagged four ints and didn't even play last season.
Ramsey, a DB only had like 3, total in college.
As far as DBS go, the int stats for most of the DBS in this past draft were pretty low except for a few.

If you knew then, would you rather have Shaq Lawson @19 undergoing shoulder surgery before the season with a 5-6 month recovery timetable or Jaylon Smith @34 recovering from nerve damage with an unknown return date?

Yeah, it's the offseason...

At least Lawson's injury is not something that has as much guesswork to it.

I would prefer avoiding medical risks entirely. Most players have something wrong with them, but when you spend premium choices on players with known and documented concerns, you have nobody to blame but yourself when it does not work out.
