Shariff on 105.3 - McClay will be in the driver's seat, not Stephen, once Jerry gives up GM duties

Nobody is going to run anything until Jerry decides and he's going to stick around for another 10 years because that's how we roll in Cowboys country.

"If it wasn't for bad luck......"

Don't let them fool you, Jerry is still in control. If somebody else made an important decision regarding the team, then it's only because Jerry allowed it.

This isn't the first time that Jerry was trying to maintain a low profile, it happens every time the Cowboys hit bottom.

However, it the team turns it around and appears playoff bound then Jerry will walk out from among the bushes, brush the leaves off his coat and begin to describe the genius strategy he developed in order to rise from the ashes.

They both could be in the driver's seat........they need each other. Stephen's strength isn't football as much as business/cap and vice versa, McClay is more football/talent evaluator. So IMO, both can be true.......
Why is this coming up now........
Stephen's strength is cap?

I hope this is the case, but I worry that Steve-O will still want to be the guy doing negotiations and contract structuring. Let's be real, these are probably the biggest weaknesses of the franchise. If McClay is going to be the guy, let him handle the finances, the draft, and all aspects of talent acquisition without the need of an OK from someone named Jones.

Not surprising. He sees all the grief and no credit his father gets. Most owners in the NFL use their GM as a chamberlain.

All owners are on the executive card and have final say on everything whether or not the have the title of GM.
