We should not, because knowing Jerry, if we bring him in, he'll use it as an excuse not to draft a RB and at some point this season we'll have an over the hill RB carrying the load, and it won't be pretty.

The only way I'd consider Alexander is if there's some evidence he has newfound desire burning in his belly. And I don't just mean the hope that, 'Well, he got cut so he'll be motivated.' I mean an actual change in his personality, a fiery interview, something tangible that makes you say, 'Whoa, this guy is ready to explode.'

I think his ability is still there. He just doesn't seem to give a damn anymore. And signing him to a role where he can cash in for carrying the ball five or six times a game won't change that.

In a year with great depth at RB in the draft, I don't see him as a good fit on the Cowboy's roster. He may find a spot on another team's roster as a back-up guy, but not in Dallas.

He could really help vill a void.

Assuming that void is an injury-prone, slow, unmotivated, plodding runner.

Well we do need to replace Julius :D

That would be funny.

Julius replaces Shaun, and Shaun replaces Julius -- and they both continue to stink.

..that a bunch of fans have an opinion and that's about it..?

Right..?

Seems to me that when TO first became available..there were a bunch of threads clearly stating he was not going to succeed in Dallas and would destroy the team like in SF and Philly.

Don't see anymore of those threads.

Same thing with Tank Johnson coming here.

Don't see those threads anymore.

Now it's Pacman that is going to burn the team, too..

Those threads will be gone soon enough, too.

Ad nausium.

Sign Alexander if he's healthy and affordable.

Tank and PacMan had off the field issues, and TO had team chemistry issues. None of those three ever had there work ethic or manhood called into question. None of those three have had 3 straight seasons of subpar scared football.

Sorry if i refuse to sign a eddie george II

Most seem to write off Alexander as "no desire" to play. Seattle was insulted after signing the big contract and getting little in return. That was Seattle's incentive to get rid of him. It does not add up to me. What happened to this guy that averaged over 1000 yards per season? You don't lose talent like this. He had a fantastic 2005 (1880 yds) followed by OK 2006 and less OK 2007 (716 yds, 3.5 yds per carry). But Seattle, as a team, got soft also.

He's only 30 years old. How did he stop wanting to play football?

Didn't Randy Moss look lackluster in Oakland only to become a star in NE?

He's better than JJ even with decreased desire to play.

If he's so much better then why did they cut him and sign JJ?

he's been painfully lousy for two yrs

I dont know, but he doesnt go anywhere when he runs it...and he goes down easier than anyone in the league on contact now

Didn't Randy Moss look lackluster in Oakland only to become a star in NE?

dude Oakland is one of the real dung holes of the NFL, Seattle is nowhere near what Oakland is...and honestly I think Moss' 2007 season in New England is a bit of a fluke...he did nothing whatsoever in the playoffs, so we'll see how he does in 2008

He's better than JJ even with decreased desire to play.

well apparently Mike Holmgren doesnt agree now does he?

I don't have a real answer except to say that Seattle contracted Alexander an 8 year deal for 62 mil right after his 2005 season. Alexander gets hurt and things fall apart... expectations were not anything near fulfilled. Did the money make Alexander complacent?

I don't know why JJ was signed. He is not that good in the NFL so far. Maybe Holmgren sees something that Parcells and Phillips didn't see.

he's seen Jones rip his team a new one twice in person.

and he saw Alexander do absolutely nothing to earn his pay the last two yrs...he saw the guy look like he was running through a pile of glue rather than on grass

Jones probably fits the Seattle offense quite well. I wont be surprised if he has a 1200 ydd/10 td season at all there....and he's a very good receiver

Ok..understand your position..but 3 YEARS of subpar performance..?

Are we talking about the same guy..?

The one that was All Pro and MVP in 2006 with Seattle and lead the universe in TDs..?

Look..I think he's been injured and just didnt want to play for Holmgren and Seattle anymore, too.

Joey Galloway can tell you something about playing for those guys. He also deparately wanted out, too..just like Julius Jones did here in Dallas by the time it was all said and done.

And by the way, Joey Galloway has played very, very well since getting over his inuries and moving on to TB.

So I'd look at Alexander and let's see what is really the problem before we slam the door shut.

My 2 cents.

Neither of you are talking about the right guy. Alexander was MVP in 2005, and was terrible in '06 and '07 (that's two years).

Thirty-year old RBs who've been bad for 2 seasons are about the worst possible bets to turn things around. Stay far away.
