Do not want him as a CB, but I wonder if he has enough gas to play some Free Safety.

And take reps from Ball, or Ansah, or Hamlin?

You say take reps.

I say create more competition while they can also soak up some of his knowledge of being a 10+ veteran who has seen everything in the game.

The FS spot is calling for a 'coach on the field' type of player. That's all we heard about when Ken Hamlin was here.

If he comes in and stinks you cut him.

But this team is ready for a run so you check out all possibilities.

Let me ask a few questions and this is just questions not in an argumentative manner.

Do you know if he would sign somewhere knowing they don't want him to be a CB and want him to change to safety?

Do you think he would take a lower dollar contract because I doubt the Cowboys front office will pay a pretty penny for him?

How many games has he missed due to injuries that last 3-4 years?

Do you think another team would snap him up because I think if, IF, the cowboys decided to go that route (whether him or another vet Saftey) it would be after camps because I think they really are thinking that Ball, Hamlin or Akwasi will be the starting FS and I don't think they are just blowing smoke on that.

There is enough competition at free safety already. We don't need another player to come in and take reps away. Unless the position looks tragic in TC, I don't think we need to bring anyone in.

Why does everyone think you just take an old CB and make them a safety? I don't understand it.

If we think we have to have a vet safety, why not just sign Atogwe? I know he's not healthy yet, but he should be by the time the season gets here.

I think we're going with Ball or Hamlin, though.

But how does that 10+ years of experience correlate to experience at free safety? Ball has more free safety experience than Springs. I think it would be different and maybe worth considering if Springs had some safety experience.

How many games has he missed due to injuries that last 3-4 years? A lot.

I think him coming home to Dallas would be a factor.

And if he comes here maybe he comes in a backup CB/S who helps these young players mentally adjust to the game.

If we passed on Sharper, why in the hell would we sign Springs?

Cheaper and he doesn't have to start. Plus he can play FS and CB.

Springs has played some FS with both WAS and NE.

Maybe that's why.

And Atogwe wants a long term deal and starting job.

Springs may want to earn some change and come home to Dallas while helping all of these young CB/S on the roster while he goes for a Super Bowl ring.

He has.

And you act like we are talking about a Punter going to play QB.

He's a defensive back.

If the Pats think he is done, why the hell would we want him???

Besides, if we are going to go the vet route then Atogwee is a much, much better choice than Springs.

How bout we give the youngsters a shot and if the position just looks like a freaking train wreck, then we can start bringing in vets.
