He didn't say cut -- the implication was that he'd be gone somehow, either cut or traded. My bad, if it makes that big a difference.

I don't know how you got that out of it.......he was simply stating to Rich Eisen that Chad Johnson wasn't going anywhere. That we may trade for some vet WR, but it definitly is not going to be Chad Johnson.

That's exactly what I took from it. When he said it, reading his expression, it seemed like he had some type of idea.

I'm thinking Schefter was hinting at Anquan Boldin...but wait, he's skipping OTAs like "HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED" so he may not be welcomed by the Dallas faithful! ;)
Seriously, though, he's the only "big name" WR who makes sense because I don't think the cap hit would be too hurtful if AZ traded him and w/ Fitz getting big $$$$ I'm sure they don't want to saturate that position with two overly well-paid players (not to mention they drafted a couple). I'm fine if it doesn't happen, but if it does...:D

Well if it's a legit vet, that would actually help, it's only going to be one of 3 players, tops.

Chad Johnson - Makes sense after June 1 to ease the cap hit on the Bengals.

Boldin - Makes sense for cap hit purposes and what not.

Roy Williams - This one doesn't really make sense as to why it has to be after June 1 cause there are no real cap implications with Roy.

I can't see any other Vet. WR out there who would be on the market after June 1, potentially.

Why would Cincy just cut Chad Johnson? That doesn't make any sense.

Especially when they turned down trade after trade...

But there could be for a player they might want from Dallas. There are 2 sides to a trade and not always draft picks wanted.

Okay lets look at where we are long at....

hmmm

TE, RB, CB, DL perhaps

so we trade who...Hannah/Curtis, Coleman, Ball, Bowen

I think they are decent depth players but I am sure the whole lot of them wouldn't bring in R. Williams

Henry, Canty, Roy, Spears...dang I would hate to part with just one of these guys but it may take 2 of them and some from the list above...

Ellis? that may hurt us more than help us

who or whom do you think they would give up to get R. Williams from Det.

Of those four, I would rather send Roy and Spears.

This is what I saw and heard as well.

His statement seemed more concentrated on Chad Johnson not going anywhere than knowing anything about another receiver.

People, this is just wild speculation. I doubt anything is behind this.

It's more likely he wants to end it in a big market town where he can make the rounds and be in the media, regardless of whether they are a contender or not.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Grandpa Al open his checkbook again and see Taylor land in California. Maybe even the 49ers.

I don't think Jason gives a crap about winning a Superbowl at this point. He's already said the thing he hopes to be remembered for is his "acting", more so than dancing or football.

:starspin That's where I think Taylor could end up at, Oakland. That wouldn't surprise me at all.

If I had to guess, Crayton & Henry. They could be waiting for Jones to be reinstated first too.

I was thinking that if you trade a player, you take his cap hit immediately and can't spread some of it to the next year like a June 1 cut.

Trading Crayton would make no sense. They just gave him a $6M bonus.

Hence why I said the Cowboys might be waiting until after June 1.

I might be wrong on this, but wasnt there a rule change or something with the players union and the NFL that a player could be cut and then designated as a June 1st casaulty?

I remember reading something about how players wanted a chance to catch on with another team and waiting till June 1st hurt their chances, especially of starting spots (all the OTAs and mini-camps would be over by then).

I might be wrong on this, not sure.

The Cowboys have taken every opportunity possible to show that they want Patrick Crayton as a Cowboy, why would that change now?

Maybe it hasn't. As I said earlier, "if I had to guess."

I'm looking at it as them trading up at WR and still having Glenn as the 3rd WR option. I also pointed out that they could be waiting for Jones to be reinstated before they would move a CB.

For the record at the end of the season I predicted (speculated, guessed, whatever word works best) 4 players would be traded. Fasano, Ayodele, Ferguson, and Ellis. 3 of the 4 have been. Maybe they want Ellis and I'll go 4 for 4. Probably not.

My speculation on Crayton has nothing to do with wanting him gone. Unlike some fans I don't invent ways to get rid of players I am unhappy with. I'm not unhappy with him other than one game. I speculated that simply because of something the Detroit brass said about not wanting to replace Williams if they did trade him with a draft pick.

Why Fasano? I felt all along that Parcells loved him more than anyone else did and he had no TE in Miami.

Why Ayodele? Zach Thomas.

Why Ferguson? Big contract for Ratliff and Tank Johnson was a bargain. Fergy was the odd man out.

Why Ellis? The investment in Anthony Spencer.

It's a guess on my part Count. Nothing to get all in an uproar about despite the fact that I'm still talking about adding Williams. I'm not the only one still thinking that could happen though. Am I?
