Shout out to bbgun for inspiring me to come up with a new bad pun for this weeks thread! You're the yin to my yang, or something like that.
There are a lot of us vindicated this week, and not all of us agree on everything. I invite all of the homers, the hopeful and the glass half full crowd to add to things they've been pointing out that came true this week. We all know the negative crowd will be here to say it was just the Bills and tell us to put away the oil so why not take our shots too?
First, the running game. Inside the 5 just run it Garrett, we now have Holland, Fiammetta and Murray. No tricks, just let Fi lead block and Murray do his thing. Many said we can't run, Garrett sees what happens in practice, etc. Well, we did it straight up like many of us screamed for and scored a TD today.
When we are dominating on both sides and have a big lead in the second half, just run Garrett. We did today and we won, Romo did not turn it over because we played smart.
Dez does not know the playbook and can only run three routes. I think I saw him do some new things today. Many of us have been saying he can but the staff is to blame. I think Dez showed us he can do more today and the coaches need to make it happen. Dez has a long way to go, he's young and has missed a lot of time. But if the coaches continue to develop and push him, he will excel.
Murray and Robinson deserve the oil, big time. They will have bad games in the future I'm sure, but they are solid players. When some of us said they have potential, this is what we were talking about. We did not guarantee it, we just saw potential based on facts.
TNew does not suck and should not be cut. On TrueBlue I argued that because he's a gym rat he can be a solid corner into his late 30's. The pass interference call was BS, he was great today and proved why he belongs here. Injuries have hurt him and caused reasonable concern on his future. But too many have tried to say he sucks and was not good even before he suffered some injuries.
Hos, this is for you brother. On a play where we made a 1st, we had been running all over them. Garrett chose to pull all the RB's and throw. It ended up a 1st to Witten and I think it was a stupid call. We should have kept a back in there and done play action, imo. See, I don't just complain about the plays that do not work, this was a really stupid move and I bet play action could have led to a bigger gain.
At a minimum, this is a great example of Garrett making it harder to execute. We had them trying to figure out how to stop the run and let them flat out play the pass only because we had an empty backfield. This is all the proof I need to feel certain Garrett is still lacking as a play caller. He was good over all, this was dumb. I'm not calling for his head, just pointing out some things he does that makes it more difficult than it needs to be.
The oline was very good today, I have not been a fan though I've said Holland and Fiammetta have made them better. Those of you who have been on their side have some evidence today, they were really good. Those of you, me included, who pointed out how good Romo could be when protected get a big win today.
Romo, oh Romo. Several of us have said his injury has been a factor. He's been healthy 2 weeks now and on fire. The TD to Robinson from the 10 is a great example of healthy Romo. The pressure came and he spun and rolled out extending what was now a busted play. Classic Romo, people scrambled around and he found the open man. He would not have been able to make that move 2-3 weeks ago and would have been sacked or thrown it away.
Great game overall. I look forward to those who will try and shoot down my points, find things to complain about or tell us how Romo still sucks.
By the way, as I type this, Vick just threw a pick to lose the game. All QB's tend to do this when coming from behind, not just Romo.
Things to feel good about:
The offense is back and will get better as Jones and finally Austin comes back. I think Robinson should start the rest of the way unless Austin can prove he will stay healthy though. Our offense will suffer if Austin comes back and he and Romo are not in sync or if he drops a few while he gets back to speed. We don't loose much offense with Robinson. We do it differently, it's like Glenn verse TO, imo. But we still move the ball and score.
Garrett ran a straight up FB lead block give Murray the ball from 2nd and goal. If he starts to believe in this, we'll be better in the red zone.
Lee would have stopped Jackson for 2 yards if he had both hands on one of those big runs. As he and Carter get back up to speed, our run D will improve.
Once Jenkins gets back, we'll have a very good secondary. They have been doing a good job without him, but he's better than all of them but maybe TNew.
Tanner is like Barber without dancing. He just takes what's there plus another yard or 2 on effort. No dancing around or running backwards trying to make a play. The end result might sometimes not yield a great play like Barber used to make, but it gains yards rather than losing them on many others.
Bennett caught a pass today for a first!
We're a good team. We're not as bad as we looked against the iggles and they are not as good as they looked against us. I still see 10-6 being the realistic max for the team this year just cause it's the NFL. But if we get to the playoffs, we have a chance.
I look forward to your stories of tacos, pie and the occasion well though out response, discussion or argument. And even if we disagree, at least we can feel great about a dominant win!

....did i say it wasnt under thrown......? i was saying Romo threw one up for his receiver to make a play and he did....and as predicted he gets criticized for it not being perfect
