Shotty - Questions from early Returns

Ive been on board with shotty from the get go, I believe he is what this team needed and that its a 3 year process to get the pieces he wants for the vision he has for this team.

The influx of injured players that are contracted to Dallas could have made a significant difference in the GB. CeeDee alone would have swung that GB final score, and in my opinion before OT was needed. Now factor in Blue and Overshown and the record thus far might be a distinctively pleasant difference.

I read an article today which stated Jerry mumbled something about the cap space and Pickens in a positive way. As if Pickens might be resigned. I have yet to figure out how to take a news article and validate how many Johnny Walker Blue's he's had before putting on his pretend GM hat.

But if the offense could stay static from this year to the next, and TWO first round picks for the defense....well, I'm getting giddy about thinking on this.

I have been harsh on the team this season. And if things reverse, I will be pleased to eat crow.

I do love this team.

The question that begs to be answered for me is this. Is Shotty learning the head coaching role as he goes and are the Cowboys exhibiting clues to the fact Shotty is producing to the point he may be much better than expected?

2023- McCarthy, down 14-0 , folded to a 41- whatever blowout loss

2025- Schotty, down 13-0, rallied, went toe to toe and resulted in a 40-40 tie

What did Schotty do to get the guys motivated to tie the game with inferior talent on the roster? What didn’t McCarthy do to get the guys to give up with superior talent on the roster?

That question has made me pump the get-rid-of-Schotty-ASAP breaks. Maybe he is a better coach than I thought. To me that was encouraging moving forward even though we tied and didn’t get the win.

The offense is much improved over MM, especially with his play calling. A new DC next year and heavily focused fa and draft on defense will help this team a bunch

I hated the Eberflus pick to start with, but with the shape of the CBs health, no DC was going to be able to do much. Zimmer A Gap blitzing would have left holes everywhere.

DQ would wanted Micah traded for another DB and teams would’ve run the ball at will without Clark in the middle.

It’s time to get continuity in a defensive system and give Eberflus healthy players before saying he’s awful. I’ve been very impressed with the run D. The normal smash the ball inside that’s killed this team for years is much improved.

The biggest disappointment to me has been Fowler. I thought with his 10 sacks last year he’d be able to replace some of Micah’s production and at least give steady pressure. Not overwhelming like Micah but at least make the QB get rid of it. Then 1 of Houston, Eze, Williams, Kneeland would step up. So far Houston’s the only one. We’ll see about Clowney.

I wish we could have kept Armstrong. Fowler is forced to play more than he should. He should only be on the field for obvious passing downs. Houston has been a nice surprise and hopefully our young DE’s figure it out as the season progresses
