Shotty wants to change the culture, but what does that really mean to you?

Winning. The culture will change by the manner of how we win games, how we prepare is the start. Wanna change culture? Prepare. Have a standard, never waiver, find the right players willing to buy in. No substitute for hard work and smart players. We lack both I think in many areas. We do these things, result will eventually be consistency and gritty wins. Shotty already called the team out, challenged them, and himself. This year we will see massive change over from players. This is a 2 year rebuild , a soft one. We fans gotta be patient and give him the time he needs. We can win in spite of Jerry. Get your popcorn.

It means he'll try to change it, whereby many others have failed to do so. Good luck with that, if he's able to "git-er-done!" :dance:If not, nice try!

We have gotten talent worse 2 years and a row and it looks like a third. Good luck changing culture with a worse roster. Honestly believe we will have a bottom half roster, meaning if everything goes perfect can still make the playoffs and win a game or 2, but more likely we miss the playoffs again.

How will he do this exactly in your eyes, what will be different, how did he actually convince Jerry that there's actually a culture problem with this team? What plan does one need to fix a problem that has plagued this team for years. He's going to have to wash out and reprogram a lot of these players that have been here for several years! Will it be easy, will there be some resistance?

Are all of his assistants on board and ready to take on this challenge. Do the players want the culture changed, or will we continue to see what we see with this team, and hear what we hear about this team from former players?? Interested in your thoughts, please give them!!
How can you change the culture, when you've been responsible for it? Only an outsider can come in and do that.

Schott was OC when the Jets went AFCCG back to back in 09 & 10 . They had Rex Ryan HC played tough defense with a team swagger ran the ball with Thomas Jones Shone Green and an aging LaDainan Tomlinson . They won despite Mark Sanchez .

The key to Dallas & culture winning under Schott will be improving the run game by getting Dowdle a run partner controlling clock getting Dak his bus driver license and most importantly overhauling with a majority of 10 draft picks and FA a Defense that was a liability last season . Tall order can be done .

What does it mean? Nothing. This favor-hire flunky was promoted to NOT change the culture.

Did you hear Peyton Hendershot talking about the difference between the Chiefs and the Cowboys? He brought up again the fact that Dallas is more about show and marketing than winning while the Chiefs are 100% focused on winning. Where does that show and marketing culture come from? Certainly not the HC. It starts with Jerry and no HC is going to change that.

This is not the first time we've heard the players talk about this. Jerry know the score and it is why he picks coaches that will not challenge his way of doing things.
Meh ..I'd much rather take to the voice of a past star,..past leader.. than a scrub like Hendershot, .

let me hear and heed to Troy Aikman, ..Emmitt Smith...even oft- over-exaggerating Michael Irvin ..

Some keep referring waaay back in 2009 ...that's too decades ago.. i want to see an offensive coach that is updated and advanced into today's innovative offense.

I want to see how he schemes vs today's defensive opposing teams, see how he moves personnel and formations around, see his play design.. but run and pass.
See how he adjusts in-game - see how he employs Misdirection, pre-snap shifts/motion.. pulling counter traps ..play action from under center, ...bunch formations. .rub routes -utilizing the RBs
in the pass game ..key scheme to free up receivers into potential splash plays

It' gonna be a big difference between OC vs head coach,..it's been brilliant coordinators that didn't cut it as HC's ..
.Steve Spagnuolo,..Wade Phillips.... Josh McDaniels.. Matt Nagy ..Norv Turner,......Kliff Klingsbury...Leslie Frazier ...Al Saunders.. Jim Swartz.....etc.

When all is said and done, the team, collectively and as a whole, will default to cultural factory settings.
And that is to promote marketing a brand and money over winning as demonstrated by its owner/GM.
As a player, sell out for the second contract and the generational wealth it brings, and coast accordingly thereafter.

But in the meantime toe the company line and say all the right winning team cliches publicly while actually winning absolutely nothing on the field.

This is the 1996 to present day Cowboy Way.

Schottenheimer couldn't change this if his life depended it on it. Not even remotely close. More like continuation of the same. Sad times.
smh
Yeah I got a kind of agree I think you're going to need a way bigger and stronger personality than Brian schottenheimer to change the culture of the Dallas Cowboys.

You're going to need somebody with some major skins on the wall that commands the kind of respect that will change a culture.

Something like Sanders or Belichick but Brian schottenheimer that's a big stretch to expect him to be able to do that

Good question.

It depends where our GM is on March 12, 2025.

Coaching culture is fine in dallas. It is the culture jerry controls that is rotten and off limits.

Great point. Typically that is logical. However, it depends on how much power Shotty has. If he's got the right players, and they do not try to circumvent him or the new standard he's trying to cement, it might work. Which is why I feel this is a soft rebuild. I think in order to make these changes , many vets might need gone. It's real hard to teach players that have been part of the culture issues, a new standard. It's nearly impossible. We need to nail free agency, and the draft first. Then we can reflect on which vets we pushed out the door to gain an idea if it can work. Jerry and Stephen aren't going anywhere, but it's possible they also want change. Let's wait and see.

Culture is set by the Executive leadership, so Schotty has an uphill battle to fight unless Jerral and company change.

I hope he means they plan on changing their identity and becoming a physical team with a strong defense. They'll be consistently "relevant", as Jerry likes to say, but also prepared to contend when the stars align and quality skill players are brought in.

I truly hope so, I get tired of seeing our guys look like they have no skills, and they're getting pushed around. It's time for us to be the aggressor!

There's no amount of "culture" that going to allow the Cowboys to even win the East for the next few years.

The Eagles aren't going away and the Skins WILL add players through FA .

Culture only matters if you get the right roster and both are deficient here

Words mean nothing until the results are seen.
So those words could mean something, or those words could mean Nothing at all!!

I don't know but it's surprising to me that Jerry hasn't tried to squash the narrative that the culture needs to change at all.
