IMO you are exactly right. THIS is the problem. They will keep him employed with this hope things get better. Well, by that time we might be 3-5-1 with a tough schedule coming. I realize you cant bring in a new DC mid season-- but send Eberflus packing, pick whoever you think will be best to finish the year. Yeah you're rolling the dice with a guy clearly not ready--but currently changes are needed. Fire Eberflus, send a message to the team. It's disgusting how this defense is holding back this team.

If this teaches them anything, it's that they should always be prepared with a positional coach who also has DC potential.

The question surely needs to be considered by the Cowboys. We as fans have no insight into how he’s doing other than the results on the field which have been abysmal. Is it mostly coaching or is it mostly the players? Without being there every day with the team and observing first hand, we as fans have no idea how he is with the players.

I’d be interesting to hear @Ranching thoughts on the topic.

I'm not particularly strong one way or another about firing the DC, but it's early and honestly I think the defense is talent poor.

The defense is flat out terrible, we have gotten way worse at DE/CB/LB, he's not a damn magician. We had a bad defense last year. The CB due to injuries and then obviously the most consistent one went to Jacksonville.

No you guys should read Bobs post about building the defense the right way you can't do that unless you give a guy a chance and it can't just be one year Maybe they ought to keep him around for two seasons maybe a 3rd if things are improving because that's the only window our offense and special teams have right now you all realize we keep making changes on defense and not have the right players for the new schemes And then all of a sudden Prescott's retired gone Aubrey the entire special teams is gone now what?

That's the only thing I can think of You are overreacting like I am but if you're ever going to get this fixed you need to stick with one coaching staff top to bottom unless they leave for a head coaching job or you know they get elevated and get a better job you should keep this coaching staff for three years that's about what Prescott has the window for guys like Lamb All of them think about it Sometimes you might just have to go through a rough time and let them try to write the ship and stop firing DCS...

Again I'm not a hypocrite i've said it too after the Bears game I didn't think he should have got on the plane with us and then watching the Packers game and no Jerry there wasn't that many improvements it was not that obvious and yes we're getting players back but I'm gonna stay here and say maybe it should be a year to year thing but we should at least keep them through the end of next year at minimum Let him have a real chance get him the players he needs start now before the trade deadline if we have a good enough record we should go get a couple of people whether it just be free agents or off someone's practice squad and then give him another offseason to try to get his players he needs.

And for sure that might be a elite cover safety for his Cover 3 and a linebacker that can run his scheme a middle linebacker I mean overshown some of these guys are good but he may need one piece there...


I don't know i'm just rambling I get that but I just wanted to remind people that I was doing the same thing and I'm having second thoughts about it how can we keep changing when we're gonna end up losing out on the small window we're gonna have a very good offense And good special teams....
