No.
His biggest achievement in the NFL was getting traded to the Vikings.

Hopefully you’re joking. They won three Super Bowls without him, with an RB that ended up being better than him. That’s not going to get him in the Hall of Fame.

He was joking, he was saying the trade propel us to those SB wins.

Walker should be in because Warren Moon is. They clearly considered Moon's CFL success when deciding to put him in the hall. However, Hall voters are an inconsistent bunch in their rationale.
Exactly this.

That's fair, but I'm not sure the talent level in the CFL was better than the USFL at that time.
It wasn't even close. The USFL had snatched several future Hall of Fame players from the draft. The USFL was clearly superior to the CFL in those days, but the CFL was not trying to take on the NFL and is almost a completely different sport so it had a niche that allows it to survive.

I’ve had a number of discussions with him, and he sees things in a very strange way. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if he believes that trade should get Walker in the Hall of Fame, because it led to three championships for the Cowboys. Too many fans give Walker credit for those three Super Bowl wins. I’ve heard others say he should be added to the Cowboys ROH because of what that trade did for the team. Lol With the mindset some fans have Mike Lynn should be added to the Cowboys ROH. He’s the reason we got all those draft picks.

to make it simple , they can only put small # of guys in each year. Just the way it is.
There are a lot of guys who should go in, and most will eventually, a few may never go in.
Also it is political and some guys will be delayed due to that.

But they all will go at some point, Walker will go, just a question of when.
Basically they have more guys to put in than they have slots for.
Yes

like Darren Woodson should have been in so long ago it's a travesty of justice he's not in so all these players people want in might want to go back and see all the people that already deserve to be in that both have stats and rings and are not in

Herschel Walker's gonna have to wait a really long time they're running backs like Ezekiel Elliott and others that have numbers as good that are probably not going to get in either...

That is probably true. A lot of guys who could have played in the nfl played in the USFL. I don’t think you could say the same about the CFL

He enabled the Cowboys to get 3 super bowls in 4 years; so yes he should be in.

Yes. If for no other reason what he did for the Cowboys.

I'll admit I panicked when he got traded.
The Cowboys making a good trade for him isn't his accomplishment, it was the Cowboys, and is not grounds for getting into the HOF.

In fact, his NFL years alone really shouldn't get him in the HOF. He had a strong NFL career, but his stats and accomplishments are a little short of HOF level.

He needs the USFL stats and accomplishments tacked on to get him in the HOF.

And this is perfectly legitimate, After all, it's the Pro Football HOF, not the NFL HOF

This is where I think you're nuts. The only time. I usually agree with you. Had he played his entire career in the NFL he easily is HOF. He was an elite RB. Warren Moon got in largely based on his CFL career. Because in the NFL he was no better than Boomer from the Bengals. Walker was still pretty good in his mid 30s.
He wasn't close to elite.

If Herschel hadn’t been traded ,he could have gone on to have a HOF career with the Cowboys during the 90’s.
If Walker wasn't traded, there would be no Cowboys of the 90's. They would have remained a bad to middle team in the conference. So i doubt playing for the Cowboys in the 90's (without the massive trade) and playing for any other team wouldn't had mattered to his chances at the HOF. That said, I would not vote for him for the HOF.

O.J. had a much better NFL career than Walker. Get real! He was one of the greatest RBs in NFL history. He was the first RB to rush for 2000 yards. He spent most of his career on one of the worst teams in football and carried them. He had 3000 more rushing yards than Walker in two fewer NFL seasons. Walker only made the Pro bowl twice. We’re talking strictly football here not off the field.
If you read my post carefully, you would see i was making a point on off the field crap...so lighten up Francis. No one is saying he is better than OJ at football....but he is a better human that's for sure. yeah, that running sure came in handy for OJ. Seems i kinda touched a nerve. there.

While we probably wouldn’t have had the immediate huge success in the 90’s without the Hershel trade , I’d still like our chances with Aikman, Irvin and Walker to build around .

Remember Herschel led the league in rushing on a Cowboys 3-13 team so I’m not sure we would have needed a 3 Time SB winner for him to put up HOF numbers .

You might want to lighten up and knock off the name-calling. Don’t know why you’re bringing up what he’s done in recent years off the field. I didn’t see any posts with anyone bringing it up. He’s been eligible for the Hall of Fame for years, so what he’s done in recent years off the field has nothing to do with with him not being in. O.J. Simpson was inducted into the Hall of Fame before his off the field problems. You need to focus on what both players did on the field and OJ clearly had a Hall of Fame career, which is why he was inducted on the first ballot.

Not only did Walker only have two 1000 yard seasons in 13 seasons in the NFL but his career best for TDs was 12. Zeke had 12 TDs last season and everyone’s saying he’s washed up. Lol Zeke had a better NFL career than Herschel Walker. In only seven seasons Zeke had almost the same rushing yards as Walker and had more TDs.

Disagree. Moon in CFL was a discrimination necessity move. Walker in the USFL was a money move.

Some guys did get in the NFL Hall of Fame after their USFL career. Running back is a short career. He’s the one who chose to go to an upstart league. All those things should have been considered If he was looking for an NFL HOF career.

Walker made the decision to go to a league that was destined to fail and put up over 5000 yards. Add those yards to his NFL total and he might be in the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame committee is going to put a lot more weight in what players do in the NFL than in another league. At RB it’s all about numbers.

Agree, and someone was talking about OJ. The Juice was the man and they played less games then.
