Alright so here's the deal. I've been home schooled for about 2 years now. It's ok I guess, but it gets pretty boring. I've been thinking about getting back into school. The only problem with that is I'd probably have to go back for another 2 years at least. I do this online program. I could probably finish it in 1, but I've been thinking graduating in two years versus one isn't much of a difference. The reason I started getting home schooled was simple. I was a ****ing clown in school. I would disrespect the teachers, disrupt the class, get in fights, and wouldn't do my work. I ended up having to repeat the 8th grade because of my antics. Main reason I wanna get back into school is because I wanted to play basketball in high school. I consider myself a pretty good player. Good rebounder, I can post up, decent shooter, my defense is not that good, but I know I can get better in that area. Also I could really use a girlfriend. Anyways what should I do?
...some serious and mature questions.
Am I prepared and willing to share the educational experience with different teaching personalities?
Is there a real benefit to me being in an actual institution? Will I perform better in an actual school?
What do I being to the table in terms of joining a HS? I think you have to look further than just being a good B'ball player.
How does going to a HS fit into my plans for the future? You may not have the road map to your future figured out, but is education part of what you are considering?
If yes, then how does attending HS improve the situation for you?
Ultimately I believe there is pros and cons in any situation, but the key element here is your ability to tap into the teaching staff and advancing life for yourself.
If you end up attending the HS only have continued problems with authority figures, then I believe you are wasting yours and the HS's time.
Oddly enough you are a member of a sports team forum and you have probably seen how the criticism for players of this team shed light on missed opportunities and wasting each other's time.
If you are going to join a new team, ex. a high school, make sure you are read to be a team player.
If you are not ready, then you may end being no better than the players you often see being criticized here on this forum. Be prepared to be part of the team if you are enrolling in a HS.
