Should pass interference be challengable?

Pass interference being such a huge penalty... I think it should be challengable as to whether or not it happened or it didn't happen.

Thoughts?

I have mixed feeling on this one. The rule can be interpreted to the point where if the DB even brushes his shoulder down field that he could flag it.

We've seen some good no calls and we've seen some pretty pitiful calls as well....

Good question though.....but I doubt they ever make it reviewable.

Probably, but it's like one of those things, when you make one penalty reviewable, pretty soon they all will be.

It's such a huge penalty though that I would have to say yes, make it reviewable.

Well I think that would actually put the onus on referee's to make the proper calls. You can't challenge a refs decision after the game so I think you should be able to during the game.

You still have the same amount of challenges.

If it means we fans have to watch TNew bear hugging Marshall over and over, then no. Hell no........J/K. I know the OP meant questionable calls.

The NFL needs to review every rule change over the last 25 years and honestly try and evaluate its impact on the game.

Rule changes are a slippery slope, and the NFL is slipping up.

It is in college, and I hate it. In a way, it essentially rewards bad defense. If a guy is wide open for a guranteed touchdown and you tackle him to prevent the TD, why shouldnt the offense get the ball at the goalline? 15 yards means the defense gets to stop big pass plays with relatively little consequence.

i agree. i find myself getting angry when a rule that used to work in the past gets changed.

The worst thing the NFL ever did was distinguish the QB from every other player on the field. He is a football player just like the other 21 guys and should be treated as such.

Yep....an Iowa player did that...he was beatin on a play and interfered with him. I said "That was actually a good play...otherwise it's a TD. Now it's only 15 yards.".

Too subjective to be reviewable.

Can't make it a 15 yarder because if a guy pulls a guy down, 45 yds from the LOS, at the goal line, that should be more than a 15 yd penalty. You'd see DB's interfering every time they were beat deeper than 15 yds from the LOS.

It would be good if they made the calls less subjective....like they did with possession out of bounds. They did away with force outs.

The one that makes me nutz is face guarding...ya know, if the DB doesn't turn to face the ball. The game is already stacked in favor of the offense. I couldn't care less if the db is setting off flares and doing cartwheels. As long as there's no direct contact with the WR, it shouldn't be a penalty. Wr's are paid to catch the ball, gee, even if someone is jumping up and down and waving their arms in front of them.

I guess D-linemen shouldn't be allowed to jump when the QB is throwing a pass.

Oy

Right, I do not like that at all either.

It should be challengeable it's a spot foul that's purely judgmental it's a call that can move a team from one end of the field to the other.

No it shouldn't because then Dbs would just pull down rec if they got beat. I'd expect Ryan to coach it if the Db got beat.

i think if one is called it should be challengable but if one isnt called i dont think they should be able challenge to see if a flag should have been thrown..there would be a challenge after every incomplete pass....

but those PIs are game changers and i get sick of watching teams get handed 50 yard penalties over nothing

Oh and I should clarify that I think a penalty called for PI should be, not just any random play you feel was PI but was not called.

I think you should be able to challenge when refs miss pass interference. Look at the game we lost to Denver when Champ Bailey corralled Sam Hurd.

The game shouldn't be changed based on a bad call or a non call.

Also you would still have the same amount of challenges, there wouldnt be flags after every incomplete pass.

There is no face guarding in the NFL. No contact = no foul (unless the refs sucks...).
