Should pass interference be challengable?

How bout this idea that nobody has mentioned.................instead of reviewing bad PI calls by the refs, how about GETTING BETTER REFS!!!!!

With so many forms of physical contact being outlawed in the NFL, rewrite the pass interference rules to allow more contact before the ball is in the air. And simplify the rules so that calls are more easily made.

Between the flags, routine replays, and excessive commercials, the game is becoming less watchable.
Dude what is up with your signature. :lmao:

That is insanely weird haha.

College is a very very different game in case you haven't noticed. You are far far less likely to find evenly matched players. You see far fewer situations where great receivers are matched with guys who can cover them 25+ yards down the field. Even the elite teams play half their games against truly inferior competition. Contrast that to the NFL where most teams have 3 or more guys that can decently stick with just about any WR for much longer. You'd see far more use of the "hack a Shaq" approach in the NFL if it only brought 15 yards ... or 1/2 the distance to the goal. No one wants to watch that crap.

This is total BS.

Why aren't we seeing the lesser college teams constantly hack and hold the superior receivers of other teams?

I guess if the NFL cb's can "decently stick with a guy for much longer they wouldn't need to "hack a shack"? Why take a needless 15 yard penalty if they're so good.

I'll tell you what I'm sick of watching.....NFL teams use the long ball to draw pass interference calls. Its becoming commonplace to see receivers concentrating on drawing the penalty rather than catching the pass now. The offense already has every advantage. Pass interference is overkill.

Agreed. They need full time refs. Not these guys that meet up on Saturdays and ref football games as side jobs. The league makes so many rule changes that it's hard on the refs. We blame them so much but it's actually hard for them to completely understand the rules. Many penalties are judgment calls, so it's hard to challenge/review a penalty. But at the end of the game/season the refs are judged and graded on how well they officiated games. The best ones are selected for the Super Bowl.

Best post in the thread.

They need to allow these DBs more freedom to get physical with WRs like they used to.

You could make deliberate interference a spot foul just like a breakaway foul in the NBA. That's not that hard of a judgment call.

The other thing they could do is allow contact for 10 yards downfield instead of five.

They could also take away the interference spot foul on under thrown balls. Again that's a judgment call but it might reduce the throw it up and hope for a PI call.

Yes, because if you are going to have review then they need to make EVERYTHING challengable or do away with it completely.

As I noted, you don't see as tight a coverage in college as in the NFL and you don't see nearly as many teams that can actually throw consistently downfield for 20+ yards -- college is far more a short passing game for most teams

Contrast that to the NFL where every starter - ok, everyone but Tebow - can consistently throw the ball accurately on 30+ yard patterns into tight coverage. There is far more advantage to a 15 yard PI in the NFL because the probability of a long completion is so very much higher
