ok, we all know that the cowboys kept 11 offensive linemen, way to many, unless a trade is coming down;

a real good vet Willie Anderson is now available, should the cowboys go after him as a backup only?

think about it before saying no, if other teams that might be interrested in our offensive linemen, which i dont see, in James Marten, or Joe Berger or Pat McQuistan, but if other teams need an OT, then they may go after Anderson, if the cowboys lock him up cheaply enough, because 10 to 1, anderson wants to go out with a winner and a super bowl championship

then the cowboys would keep that option away from teams that need an veteran OT, and at same ensure a trade of one of our offensive linemen in case there was talk of trade for one of the offensive linemen;

at same time, if something happened to columbo or flozell you would have a capable backup at OT in anderson

No. Why would we do that? We don't need an old tackle who is long past his prime.

The only position where you want an old veteran is backup QB (unless your starter is the old veteran), not at tackle.

Free has incredible athleticism and it just getting started. Bringing in a has-been would only be a progress stopper.

If he'd accept a backup role and a cheap salary go for it

Please stop making threads, like honestly, you want us to get Willie Anderson, Joe Horn, Marcus Monk, etc.

For my sanity, and the other users on this forum, STOP, just stop.

Only way Dallas gets him is by waiver and accept his current contract. Otherwise, a team that actually needs a OT will pay more than a "cheap" salary.

I thought we needed a WR. I'm generally for any deal that we steal but we need to stay focused.

He's been in the league too long to be placed on waivers. He was released so the team that signs him can sign him to whatever deal they want.

No.

But if healthy I am intrested in Carlos Polk and Keith Davis. Two Special teams demons who play with alot of urgency and intensity.

I am not sure what the deal with polk is. I know he has a history of injury problems, but I think he was healthy all last year and this year.

in no way do i want joe horn, he is past his prime

now i did want to get marcus monk and put him on the practice squad

as far as willie anderson, you need to look at your history
the year that the giants went to the superbowl and lost it, 2000 i think,

they signed a older OT that was 38, brown somebody and he helped them

even the cowboys the year they went to the superbowl in 1971,

ralph neely hurt his leg, and cant think of his name, but one of the dallas cowboys offensive linemen had retired, they got him to play that year at end of season

i am not saying have anderson play, but only if need be

remember in playoff to giants columbo was hurt, and we didnt have a good backup

that hurt the team somewhat

i only want anderson if he has 2-3 games in him for insurance and at a reasonable price

the deal for anderson in contracts talks to me would be, we the cowboys are close to a superbowl, do you want to help us, help tutor the young offensive tackles and if need be play a game or two, or spell columbo or flozell now and then,

I agree on Davis but I don't know enough about Polk.

I agree we shouldn't sign him, because we have Free. I disagree about Anderson being past his prime; the guy can still play.

Why did he get released then? Was the backup just as good?

Free can't handle playing inside. He needs to stay at LT.

Anderson was going to make a lot of money this season, refused to take a paycheck, and was cut by the NFL's cheapest owner. Some team will get a very good tackle for nothing.

Ok so he really is "that" good... why the hell would he come to dallas, end up taking a bigger paycut then he would have in Cincy, AND agree to be a backup?

If he's "That" good, he'll be starting for someone by week 2.

Not to mention, he is a 5-time Pro-Browler.
