Should we be concerned about Micah's longevity?

Seems by mid-way thru the 4th quarter, he is starting to slightly struggle. I 100% understand why - dude plays full speed all out every single play.

Camera shots show him just gassed. When he is on the bench, he just looks beat and unhappy. Reading his comments tell me he would like to play more LB but he is dedicated to whatever the team needs, which is apparently him playing a DL. Are we seeing the beginning of the Cowboys chewing him up and spitting him out? Wanting 100% of him for 3 or 4 years instead of 90% for 7 or 8 years?

Will he reach a point and think to himself "man, I can't keep this pace and maintain a long healthy career. Maybe I need to look at playing somewhere else."

I think its a fair concern. I am not a fan of a 3-4 but I think mIcah is mean to be a 3-4 OLB. I would change schemes for him.

Hopefully the penny will drop in the close season. In my opinion other teams would already have started changing. We have made small adjustments by signing guys with history of the 3-4 but we need more.

This is a concern. And what pisses me off is they won't put him on a snap count. He should not even have played against the Titans. The Cowboys don't know how to play him conservatively and are letting him Rush the passer way too much. They don't even try to disguise it. He should be played at LB and used sparingly rushing the passer during the regular season and then increase him a little for the playoffs. They rely wayyy too much on him.

As much as I hate to say this I would trade him at the end of this season while he is at the height of his powers IN THEORY.

He holds maximum value right now but we have used him up Make no mistake some players age in dog years and I believe he is one of them.
He's a candle that burns twice as bright but half as long.
In my opinion it would be foolish to sign him to some huge contract and end up with a pass rushing version of Zeke.

He's going to be a step slow and injured soon and I absolutely hate to say it but it's coming.

Before we get saddled with some horrendous contract that he physically cannot live up to we need to realize that we got the most we could get and get out while we can get draft picks and maximum value because it will never be as good as it is right now

My thoughts would be get rid of him 2 years before it would be totally necessary and get maximum value rather than 15 minutes too late and get nothing.

He could give us the draft picks for a dominant defensive tackle and a quarterback prospect for the future

About three weeks ago there was a comment about this by Micah how he is sometimes worn out by the 4th quarter. My belief is he goes 100% on every play and tries to make the play. This may be why they spell him at times.

I was told I had no idea what I was talking about. Nice to see I am not the only clueless person when it comes to Micah and his endurance. (/sarcasm)

i think they have plenty of OLB candidates and Hankins and Bohana for NT. Need a couple 3-4 ends still, IMO

Having him rush the passer takes 2 blockers away on many plays, causes false starts, and pressures the QB. I'm not sure we win against the Titans without him on the D-Line. That said, they are overworking him, whether he wants to be in or not.

Micah's career will be short. His body will not hold up to the pounding. The problem is coming when Micah's will demand a BIG salary for the work he did --ON THE FIELD. Unless this team produces --in the playoffs--- the rich tradition of paying players for past performance while seeing their productivity decline ( Elliott is a current example), then hinders the salary cap.

I don't think he'll be worn out if they stop abusing him and put him on the D-Line much less frequently.

We draft an elite pass rusher and some want to trade him off.
He’s a year 2 player that was drafted as an off ball linebacker that has been asked to be an edge player. It’s not an overnight change.

I think some of you would take the mystery box over a boat. “But the mystery box could be a boat!”

Yes
We should trade him for the bounty of picks and rdraft a stud QB

Micah is a surefire stud, trading for multiple 1st round picks or say even #1 overall, that QB is not a surefire pick and most tend to fail. A Peyton Manning type would have to be sitting there to consider it.

Is he a surefire stud? Been kind of ineffective lately hasn't he?
I like the kid, but if you offered any top five QB in this league you could not turn it down. There is no bigger impact than QB good or Dak

If we keep lining him up at DE, he may be done sooner than that. Ratliff is the similar situation, and he was only effective for 1 1/2-2 seasons.

I think he’ll be a 10 sack a year guy for the next decade. Even when he loses some speed, he’ll still be a ridiculous athlete, and as he gets experience he can refine his pass rushing moves even more.

That being said, he needs a snap count. He’s playing a lot of DE for someone his size. He goes 100% every play. It’s easy to see he’s been just getting pretty tired recently, and I don’t blame him a bit.

Ineffective? No. He hasn't gotten sacks, but he's in the heads of the opponents, causing false starts, taking up their blockers, and still getting pressure to cause mistakes and throwaways.

But Ratliff didn't have as much talent or motor as Micah...which the motor is sort of bad for Micah's longevity because he doesn't know when not to give it his all. They need to stop playing him at DE so much unless he bulks up massively in the off-season, but that might be bad.
