Should we be concerned about Micah's longevity?

I cant hardly stand to read some of this garbage. For years we had no pass rush, we finally get one and now we say.... but he is going to break down, trade him away.

Imagine some moron trading away LT for draft picks. Better yet, imagine trading away Micah and drafting a QB that ends up being Ryan Leif.....Imagine JERRY doing that....smh
:hammer:these expert coaches and scout type feel they are better evaluators then Quinn, the dl coach and LB coach. they say they saw this coming ..:popcorn:as if him still being very high in sacks, pressures, and overall play for the year but not #1 now its and issue? he is affecting games no matter the stats. didn't we see a post on is rating for 4th qtr effectiveness is tops in the league.??

I say most of his small issues have bene nagging injuries, health ie got a bad bug for few weeks, lost his dog and now cut his hand doing god knows what,. 17 game season is relentless on all players, especially a young player who goes 120% every snap in his 2nd year and I'm betting hasnt done a lot of planning in his diets, off time rest, and other things to help bounce back quicker from games especially these 3 games in 12 days, twice this season i believe...

i mean he didn't even play football in 2020 and short college season, he was not prepared for this and adapting.

.

I'd love to see the guy remain a cowboy but can you imagine what hes gonna ask for in dollars and what Jerry is going to throw with him?
No, I trade him while the iron is hot and take the picks. Grab a blue chip quarterback and a absolute stud DT
There is no blue chip QB in next years draft, let alone history speaks very well saying there are zero guarantees drafting one will prove to be a success. Burrow finally looks like one as the Bungles have built a team around him, same goes for Allen. In a short amount of time Lawrence will also be in this class as the Jags are doing a terrific job of building around him. There is 0.0000% chance anybody would trade Micah right now, let alone while playing under his first contract. Jerry will throw major $$$ at him, and unless they balance out the D line and not have it rest on his shoulders, the career may indeed be short. Von and Donald had help on the line during their careers...this cannot be overstated

Amen to that 14 games was enough but didn't make the owners enough money
The NFL is set up to make money. They have it down to a science. One problem that they have now is a shortage of offensive linemen. That shortage might ruin the Eagles this year like it did to the Chiefs a couple of years ago.

I get that he ties two blockers but there are other guys that can rush the passer too. They may not be anywhere near as effective but that's where some of these guys need to step up and have a rotation. It's almost as though the players themselves are relying on Micah instead of stepping up to help him like they did earlier in the year.
You're not wrong, IMO.

Seems by mid-way thru the 4th quarter, he is starting to slightly struggle. I 100% understand why - dude plays full speed all out every single play.

Camera shots show him just gassed. When he is on the bench, he just looks beat and unhappy. Reading his comments tell me he would like to play more LB but he is dedicated to whatever the team needs, which is apparently him playing a DL. Are we seeing the beginning of the Cowboys chewing him up and spitting him out? Wanting 100% of him for 3 or 4 years instead of 90% for 7 or 8 years?

Will he reach a point and think to himself "man, I can't keep this pace and maintain a long healthy career. Maybe I need to look at playing somewhere else."
You raise valid concerns.
Hopefully they will play him at LB more in the future.
Doubt things change this season though.

They should go back to 8 teams as well. We dont need teams in places like Seattle and Phoenix. Dumb arse greedy owners.

Yep and get rid of Jacksonville and Carolina while we're at it. And I want the St Louis Cardinals back in our division.

I also think I want the saints to Suck really bad every year like they used to. It was kind of something you could always count on

While we're at it I want the Colts back and freaking Baltimore. Put that Raven team in Indianapolis.

They know what they are doing. I feel that they will win the 1st playoff game and could end up winning them all and will have double digit wins for the 3rd consecutive year next year. That would give them the best record in the entire league over a 3 year period.

Praise to Floatyworm who had the guts to argue for trading Parsons in a Herschel Walker style trade at the beginning of the season while the Parsons Myth was red hot. An idea that was ahead of its time. I would trade Parsons for a couple of 1sts.

You could very well be right and trust me I love Micah and would want him to stay a cowboy for his whole career. If there was no salary cap to contend with.

When I talk about trading him I'm putting my fan hood aside and purely looking at the business side of what would possibly be best in the long run for the team.

I look at Zeke He's an excellent player but we could probably have somebody do a very similar job for half the salary and have another impact player.

Unfortunately having a heart and running the team like a fan gets you one and done.
Running the team similar to the way the Patriots do seems to take you to a Super bowl providing you have your bases covered.
I get that.

I'd just prefer to see him become one of the greatest LBs ever, and I'd like to see him do it as a Cowboy, because he almost single handedly turned the defense around, and even when he takes a break on the sideline, it shows in the defense.

If they keep burning him out, I agree with you, send him away, for his sake and ours. If they use him more wisely and give him more help, I won't complain about paying the man.

yep, he has been getting nicked up all year long, how long will it be before he gets a major injury?

That's it in a nutshell You keep getting dinged up You're compromised and all of a sudden you get punched in the mouth and knock the Heck out.

Problem is like all the rest of us at 23 he is bulletproof just like we all were.

You could completely wreck yourself at 23 and be back ready to play the following week.

But as we all know you have to pay the piper at some point.

A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.

the draft is too much of a crapshoot to trade away one of the best defenders in the league.

They will have to limit his snaps someday. Just like they are doing with Zeke.

it extends their careers.

Is he a surefire stud? Been kind of ineffective lately hasn't he?
I like the kid, but if you offered any top five QB in this league you could not turn it down. There is no bigger impact than QB good or Dak

Even in the last game, he had I believe at least 5 pressures, caused the Titans to false start at least 2x going for it on 4th down because the linemen respect his ability that much. Sacks get you the fat contract, pressures are just as if not more important.

I think they should definitely move him around more, as that's where it becomes more of guessing game for opposing offenses. It also keeps Parsons fresher not taking on olinemen all the time.

I think fans are over reacting to a guy coming off and illness, playing too many snaps at DE and giving 100%
Last year he played more LB but this year he’s playing 80% of snaps and mostly DE
Also his illness and I think a few other guys wasn’t just a cold
Notice we haven’t heard of one case of the thing we can’t talk about? Illness is a pretty broad term

To some fans only one stat matters
If it’s an edge player only sacks matter
Pressures and hits matter big time. A sack is the best but just forcing a QB to throw it away is a big play since it costs a down and gains no yards
If the DT stops a run and the LOS that’s great but forcing a throw away has the same effect on down and distance

Not to mention a fumble recovery.
