Should we be concerned that Eberflus has been at a lot of these pro days?

While the coaches coach the players I would prefer my scouts giving them the knowledge. We were burned by his good buddy Marinelli for years. Scary thought as I’m sure he has a ton of weight in that room with Jerry and son.

All coaches attend pro days. Head coaches sometimes show up. I remember Patrick Surtain’s pro day at Alabama had a large number of head coaches.

Maybe it’s just me but I would want my defensive coordinator to have an understanding of a prospect before we draft them.

I just get really scared by a coach at the big table during the draft. Taco, etc….

Yeah it’s REALLY difficult for me to come to the conclusion that the D coordinator going to pro days was even top 10 in the list of issues during the Garrett/Marinelli era.

You can just boil it down to…Jerry kept the wrong coaching staff for way too long.

Only in Dallas something like that will be brought up. The general manager is Jerry. He made the pick.
credit and blame for picks is on the GM and that is Jethro
problem is he lets those like Marinelli influence him

All coaches should submit their own analysis of top 100 type players prior to the draft.

Differences of opinion with coaches and scouts should be resolved before the final draft board.

The Taco and Watt should have been clearly ranked on the board...INSTEAD, they
debated while on the clock

The vast majority of Cowboys failed draft picks have been due to poor mental makeup, not lack of ability.

Taco had enough physical ability to have developed into a DLaw type DE.
- DLaw came to the NFL and worked very hard to overcome athletic limitations. He developed his own technique and got much stronger in the weight room. He learned the scheme and studied offenses and offensive linemen.
-Taco came in and thought he was already the greatest. He lacked effort in all areas and complained often.

Some "good guys" also lack the right mindset.
- Mazi has been a good character but lacks the Type-A alpha-dog mindset. He has very good physical ability but is a slow learner.
- Tolbert lacked confidence.

The funny thing about Taco is that wasnt actually awful when he played. The problem was Gregory was a better pass rusher and Taco was immature about it when Gregory got pass rushing snaps over him in 2018. That supposedly is the biggest reason why they were out on him.

No worries. Jerry's got this.

not concerned even a smidge of a bit. My level of concern over a coach going to see first hand a player work out falls so far below any concern I could even consider.

I'm probably more concerned that there is a concern enough to ask others if they are concerned.

Its not a Cowboy thing. Every team does this
This but I think some do a little differently........ it's my understanding all Cowboy coaches are part of the draft process whereas some teams ( with strong GMs ) primarily use GMs, head coaches, and coordinators to evaluate talent from scouts.

I realize that, but with Jerry he’s easily influenced. It’s not a normal set up here since our GM doesn’t even know who Jeanty probably is! Lol
Jerry doesn't realize one simple thing if he would just let Will McClay and the scouts run the draft make the picks ,make the trades.Let the coaches coach and stay out of the way, things in Dallas would be better and the team more successful .As a result Jerry would look smarter to the masses that is what he wants, to be known as a knowledgeable football mind.
