Should we give Nick Folk another shot?

It sucked that he lost it this year, but I would like to give him another opportunity. I'm not making excuses, but he did have the hip surgery, and wasn't kicking off anymore. (Don't know if that means anything, other then the flow of the game)

I hate to see him get picked up somewhere and have an illustrious career!

He was one of the few kickers we have had in years, since Murray, in fact that I had confidence in.

What do you guys think?

If the kid wasn't SOOOOOOOOOOOO good out of the gate then I would have some reservations about it.

But he was THAT good.

Remember Buffalo.
Time out after successful 58 yard? kick
Folk: No problem, line it up and I will kick it through again.

He will return to form.

I don't think they will. From what I heard Joe D believes it's a mental thing with Folk. The pressure of Beuhler on the team is in his mind.

So what? Martin Gramatica kicked a game winner for us and you don't see the Cowboys giving him multiple shots.

Small point, but 53 yards.

I hope we do. Give him some time to actually heal that hip up 100% and go from there. But we definitely have to have a competition...

BTW, anybody know how that CFL kicker did in his tryout?

Jerry should have kicking tryouts in his new stadium. Get a crowd there by having a few "real" players there to sign autographs, invite a few kickers (including Folk and the guy from Canada), and let others try out as well.

I would bring in Folk for TC to see how he is doing. I would trot him out in preseason and see if he has got his hip problems solved. I doubt he got the yips - he seemed to be unaffected by pressure before.

No, but I do know he was "satisfied with his performance" and expects a call back.

I consider that pretty telling.

He was 42 of 49 in the CFL last year.

Absolutely. Hopefully, he works out his issues because he was a really good kicker. Maybe he just needs to get his head on straight.

Yes, you are right because they are EXACTLY the same situations.

He missed 7 kicks? Keep him away. We only want perfect kickers.

Maybe Hoffman can come back and help him with that.

Bring him back, and leave no stone unturned. Have a competition between Folk, Suisham, Buehler, canadian kicker, and anybody else Jerry can find, except vanderjerk. My hope is on Buehler, to safe that roster spot.

What's crazy about Folk is that, before he lost 'it', every kick was straight down the middle. And in the rare occasion that he missed one, he shrugged it off and nailed the next one. He was ice. The Folk Hero.

Without a doubt, give him a chance to redeem himself. Give him a full offseason to kick and win back his job.

...or draft his brother out of Washington.

Der Buehler does not need a roster spot. He wills himself onto the team and the NFL just has to take it.

Folk absolutely deserves another chance. Especially if you consider what they were saying about his surgery.

He is a good kicker, I would like to see him get another shot in the off season with Dallas.
