Should we go after Hakeem Nicks?

With Miles departing next season, would you consider signing Hakeem Nicks for a relatively cheap contract? He is having one of the worst seasons in his career and hasn't even scored 1 single touchdown. Nicks is only 25 and a lot of people loved him coming out of college. I think there's still hope for him and the Giants don't seem to be interested in bringing him back. I think he can come in on a cheap contract because of his history with injuries and his lack of production.

And of course, he doesn't get the #88 :)

Eh don't really see it happening, even if the contract is cheap. And I'd prefer they stay away from free agent types like Nicks. The 'Boys have actually done a decent job building their stable of WR's through the draft and without wasting money on "big names" in free agency. I like what we've done with Beasley, Harris, and the rookie Williams. And of course Bryant. We're not desperate enough at the position to be wasting time and money on the Hakeem Nicks's of the world. At least that's what I think.

We dont have a proven #2 receiver on our roster..If you can get him cheap I'd do it but some team will overpay.

We don't need receivers. Even without Miles, we'll have good receivers. Dez can be one of the best WRs in the NFL if we use him right. T Williams is having a very good rookie season and can be an excellent #2 in this league. Beasley has been very productive. Witten still has a few years left in my opinion. And we have a youngster in Escobar. We have many more significant needs, primarily on the O-line and everywhere in the defense.

wow his numbers are very close to Miles numbers, except 4 years younger.

I dont think it would be a smart move.

I really wish we had a solid number 2. Im having doubts about Williams.

Duh, we definitely need hakeem.

Build from the outside in. The key to success is having good WR's and CB's. The rest can come second

No.

This team needs to focus on the interior of both lines with the defensive line being priority one.

Let's pass on Nicks. I think it would be nice to another receiver, but not with the kind of contract Nicks would require. Even if it was relatively cheap, it would still be too much.

I think we just have other needs right now on defense and the OL that we should try to fix. Also, Escobar could be the receiver we need, if the coaches can figure out during the off-season how to improve his blocking enough to get him on the field more.

No, money can be spent somewhere else. Even if he wants a reasonable contract, I just don't think he's that good.

Define what "cheap" is. I don't think Nicks will sign a cheap contract. Right now, all I want to see is personnel improvements with defense.

Nicks is a 1 when right.

I'm for a complete blow it up and rebuild, so I'm not interested in adding any expensive FA short or long term but a contending team should be all over Nicks if they feel he can get past the injuries.

The thought of Dez and Nicks is pretty ridiculous though.

Lets build through the draft staring in the trenches and working our way out.
