Should We Keep a Third Quarterback?

After watching yesterday's game for the 3rd time, I'm convinced that we'd be better inclined to protect the two reliable QB's we have on the roster, than giving up a roster spot to a 3rd QB that might be better allocated towards protecting those two. We all know that our O Line is is light at the moment, given their injury status. I'd be watching the waiver wire very carefully and see if we can pick up a guy that is at least mediocre. Thoughts?

No. If the franchise QB and backup both go down, whoever we bring in doesn't matter.

I understand your point, but the odds of both Romo and Orton going down early are slim. And if indeed that's the case, wouldn't it be because of our weak Offensive Line?

This, all day every day.

McGee and Carpenter should both be shown the door. They both stink.

There are only 2 qb's on the team as it is. Did we sign someone who can actually play QB3?

NO is your answer.

Agreed Gents. But in my humble opinion, we need to protect the two we CAN rely on; rather than count on the third who we know won't get the job done. I don't know. To me, that makes sense.

My answer.

I've pretty much been counting on keeping 2 QBs since Orton signed. There's no need to keep 3 unless you have someone worthy of developing and we don't.

We gotta get healthy on the offensive line so we can actually see that unit at full strength.

Absolutely no reason to keep 3 QB's. This season, I can take solace in the fact that if Romo does go down, I don't think they will miss too much of a beat with Orton, he is more than capable of leading this team while Romo heals.

I think we will have McGee on the PS and if we lose Tony, he will be called upon to backup Kyle. If we lose both of our QB's, season is toast anyways, so I would not worry about keeping a 3rd to start off with. We will more than likely need that extra space for a WR or an O-lineman IMO.

I don't view the 3rd QB spot on a roster as someone who could potentially produce this year. I think that spot's reserved for stashing a developmental QB without worrying about losing him.

We don't have that guy right now so there's no point in keeping 3, IMO.

I hope we're all right. I see a lot of potential in some of our rookie TE's, LB's and DE's. To see one of these diamonds in the rough get cut for a 3rd QB would be tragic.

Out of curiosity... does anyone know who the scout was that found Romo out of Eastern Illinois? I know there's a scout that finds someone special that nobody's ever heard about just about every year; but does anyone know if this guy is still on the payroll?

If you only keep two, is Dez our emergency QB?

Dude can toss the ball a long ways.

For me this would be worth the price of admission.

I see Dez at the line, checking off, marshalling the troops. We might have the next Cam Newton on the team and not know it.
