Should we match Philly's offer for Fowler?

The Cowboys didn't groom Fowler, he is a perennial bubble player who makes his mark on special teams (and he's not even a standout there).

I agree there was no "grooming" going on. He was at the bottom of our roster and firmly stuck as a special teams player. We need those guys, but not at $4m per yr.

it's not 4 mil per year. it's 4 mil the first year.i would'nt be surprised if we did match the deal. we need 1 lb already to replacer al.

Yes, and I think that 4 million is what he gets paid the first year. In other words, it includes all of his bonus so it's much higher than his cap hit will be. Still, too steep to match.

I've said it elsewhere -- this is a nice problem to have. Other teams are making our subs into starters. Sometimes it's (arguably) because we're not getting the most out of them but much more often, it's because we're now deep.

Wasn't fowler one of the guys that got victimized down on the goal line with those short passes to the RBs in the Atlanta and NO Games?

did'nt he lead the team in s.t. tackles? i believe that would make him a good s.t. player. i would rather find a guy in the draft but to match would'nt shock me

I actually liked what Fowler brought to the table, but if you're going to get into a bidding war, it's just not worth it. We have other needs.

I would tell the Eagles that we do plan to match the offer, but they can have him for a 7th.

If they decline, then we don't match, and let him walk.

It's worth a chance.

You're conjuring up a bidding war. Besides your plan wouldn't satify the terms of the bid anyway. Money talks ...bull crap walks. This is a straight business venture, not some strategy to keep players from advancing their careers. That's one o the very things that would push players away.

Consider this ...if the Eagles made an offer, and you did match it, do you believe the Eagles would counter ...you be the judge!

Should the Cowboys match the offer that Philly made to Ryan Fowler? I'm torn on this because Bradie James isn't the be-all-end-all at MLB in my opinion, and Fowler can potentially challenge him for the starting job, and be his backup at worst. Plus, as an undrafted free agent, Fowler seemed to stick around, and he took over the mark of most special teams tackles.

But Dallas groomed Fowler to be more than just a special-teamer, and is it possible that Philly is now poised to reap the benefits of him being a solid MLB for them? If that’s the case then I hope Dallas antes-up to keep Fowler. Otherwise they'll be faced with a gaping hole at the MLB position that they will need to fill it in the draft. Turning to the draft means that they will have to groom a new guy all over gain and go through his growing pains. Why do that when you have already successfully done it with a guy that is ready to start? For that reason alone, I’m leaning towards hoping Dallas re-signs Fowler. What do you think?

News flash! He went to the Titans???

So I'm not losing sleep over this "project." Let him go to Philly or Nashville. Wherever. I hear they are both wonderful cities.
