I’m told one prospect that has really intrigued teams is Albany State (Georgia) defensive lineman Grover Stewart.

Stewart is a specimen measuring 6-feet/4.5-inches and 340lbs. Last week during training at XOS Pensacola he was timed at a 5.05s in the forty. Later, during bench press testing, I’m told Stewart added two big plates to the bar increasing the weight from 225lbs to 315lbs. He then proceeded to complete 17 reps. His personal best at 225lbs is in the high 30’s and his goal for pro-day or at the combine, should he receive an invitation, is in the mid 40’s.

Staying on the Big Ten front, many on hand in St PEte believe Ohio State junior Curtis Samuelof Ohio State could slide into the late part of round one.

Samuel’s versatility as a ball carrier and pass catcher coupled with his speed and big play ability has NFL decision makers intrigued. We presently grade Samuel as 2nd/3rd round choice at running back.

No real surprises here. If you're projected to go in the first 2 rounds, the SB is just another chance for these kids to get hurt before the draft. Dede should man up and participate though.

Everyone is comparing him to Harvin, but does anyone else see another CJ Procise in this kid?

Tight Ends

Eric Saubert

Mon: Hands down the best tight end in attendance. By far the quickest, speediest and most athletic. Had one drop early in the day then went on to catch everything thrown in his direction. Made several nice receptions in drills and scrimmage. Really stood out.

Tues: Another wow performance catching the ball from Saubert. He constantly separates from defenders yet at the same time comes away with the contested ball in battles. He shows natural pass catching hands and runs incredibly well for a big tight end. His blocking? Well they've had him release into pass routes or line-up in the slot to take advantage of his hands so that remains a mystery.

Wed: Again Saubert looked tremendous catching the ball, at one point drawing loud praise from scouts in the bleachers after he laid out and made a spectacular grab of an errant throw downfield after beating the linebacker. On several occassions I noticed he did a solid job blocking, setting with proper fundamentals and holding the point.

Analysis: Revert back to my Shrine Week preview when I highlighted Saubert as I player I was anticipating watching. He did not disappoint but I didn’t expect him to based off his junior and senior film. His build, speed and pass catching ability remind me of former Northeastern tight end Brian Mandeville (there’s a name for you) and his blocking wasn’t too shabby. Saubert not only did everything scouts asked of him, he offered more. He was effective catching the ball as an in-line tight end or when lined up in the slot. He made acrobatic receptions downfield and just as regularly won out during battles in the flat. I got the idea by late Wednesday coaches were concocting ways to line him up everywhere onat the field. I firmly believe Saubert is the type of player the Shrine Game will fondly look back on as one of their own two years down the road.

wonder what round 3 rd ?

Not sure NFL teams will.

He got banned from Nebraska's campus and had to go to Youngstown State to play because he was caught exposing himself to a convenience store clerk--twice.

His more heralded teammate, Derek Rivers, will be playing in the Senior Bowl. They both had more than 10 sacks this year.

He is the kind of corner we should look at. Not first round, maybe not even second round. But pretty good.

You can find good corners deep into the draft every year.

If he got relegated to the East-West and doesn't get a Senior Bowl invite, medicals are holding him down.
