Pretty bad example since Robinson has been arrested about 15 times since he entered the NFL.

Is Davis worth this contract? Probably not, but as I said, who cares? We are still in great cap shape and he helps a weak area.........allowing us to use the draft for what it is suppossed to be, taking the Best Player Available....fill needs like this in FA as we have done. He could play either T spot or RG.

I was considering his off the field problems. Want a better example? David Terrell who was taken ahead of Robinson. But Robinson has contributed on the field, which is why I used him. He is more comparable to Davis. A starter who isn't all that great, but a starter none-the less.

do you know that's what davis will get in the end? how many of these contracts are backloaded to look big but you never see the $ the end. people need to chill until the rest of the story comes out.

I'm well aware of this - if you read the other threads I've posted in, you would know that I am fine with the contract as long as it is backloaded and pays 5 mil or less over the first 3-4 years.

partly, yes......he is of solid character and u want to reward guys for being of solid character....just ask Cincy about the embarrassment they are dealing with right now.....or how embarrassed we were by guys like Quincy or Badwich

but also he can play 4 positions on the line. he has never missed a start. he is still pretty young, just hitting his prime as a lineman.

Whoa whoa whoa. You don't award contracts to people because they are decent human beings. You expect people to be decent. You reward contracts to people for being good players. You just don't sign people without character.

BTW - read some other threads - the contract isn't as bad as it looks as long as he plays solid. But paying a guy just because he's a nice guy is bad business.

Also.....Davis went to UT....he is a Longhorn....he is a Texan...and we Texans will tend to support our own....and us Longhorn fans will support those in the Pros for the most part.

im not saying that was the reason we signed him.....i am saying that is a big plus...its good to know Jerry isnt going after scumbags.....it is good to know we are getting solid players who are also quality people

He's not here to serve soup at a homeless shelter. He's here 'cause he got paid. More power to him, but don't make him out to be some sort of Salvation Army saint.

Yes.....cause i told people to shut up and stop whining about us not addressing the OL and then when we do, they still whine and complain....u cant have it both ways.

we all knew Davis was on the radar...it was all over the media wire....we knew Davis was someone Dallas wanted...so we have had like 2 weeks to be prepared for the signing. We also knew it would be a costly purchase, cause he is a FA.......so I dont see why we are complaining about something we knew was going to happen....

who cares how long this has been news, fact is he got his money so now he can come here and under achieve like he did in Arizona. I know it's fresh start for him! boy you here that alot in sports,how many times does it work out. How about we draft some lineman to help the OL get better. I know we need another OLB

you cry cause the OL sucks and you want it fixed......you cry cause JJ gives big money to the OL.......you cry cause a Guard or Center or whatever, isn't worth a large contract......

Our OL has been crap for half a decade now.....our running game has been crap and our QBs have been getting killed.

The OL is the most important part of the offense. I am glad these grunts are finally getting the big bucks for once. Afterall, they take all the punishment play after play after play....they do all the dirty work...and get no accolades...the only time they get their name called is when they have a penalty or give up a sack (NEGATIVE PUB)....

Why is it ok to overpay prima donna WRs who touch the ball maybe 5 times a game...or CBs, DEs, LBs, RBs, etc.......but we can't overpay for the guys who block for the skill players? It makes no sense to me.

It is about time the OL starts cashing in some nice paychecks.....since they are the unknown heroes of every dominant offense....

BTW, ask Tony Romo if he feels we overpaid any of our OL, when he is holding the Lombardi next year.....just ask him
