Why not? Pretty sure they could structure the deal to protect them against any future issues he may have from the injury.

This is not a soft tissue or nerve injury such as hamstring/back/neck. Unless he can't run, walk normally he'll still get his contract.

They didnt pay him before the injury and most likely werent paying him after this season even if he werent injured. So unless Dak takes less, hes getting tagged. And now, it will be significantly less

Dak has been well compensated for his time here. If he wants to hold to $37M then let him find it somewhere else. Hint: he won't come close to $30M on the market. He will lose all his Dallas endorsements which are around $7-10M if he leaves.

Sure, you could give him a low amount of guaranteed money but he likely wouldn't want that. If he were smart, he'd take the tag at $37MM, hope he plays well and roll into a bigger deal.

Actually, the 2nd tag amount( $37M ) is right at his max value, give/take a little IMO.

No way the Cowboys can afford the Tag if they want any chance to build up the defense and not lose additional talented players to the Fa market.

Like it or not , Dak's contract is all going to depend on where the team finishes............If they win the East , why would the Jones boys be inclined to dole out even more money to retain him ?
