IF they pick up where they left off when the deadline passed, the new deal should get done fairly quickly. Remember Dak was ready to accept that deal but time ran out. See no reason it WOULD NOT still be on the table. Avoids the tag and locking up $37.......

Why not? Pretty sure they could structure the deal to protect them against any future issues he may have from the injury.
They didnt pay him before the injury and most likely werent paying him after this season even if he werent injured. So unless Dak takes less, hes getting tagged. And now, it will be significantly less

Why tag him at all? Let him hit the market and Jerry can match if he likes or not.
Dak has been well compensated for his time here. If he wants to hold to $37M then let him find it somewhere else. Hint: he won't come close to $30M on the market. He will lose all his Dallas endorsements which are around $7-10M if he leaves.

Dak gambled and lost. It is his own fault.

If the team wins without him, why would you sign him for $30M+?
It will be interesting to see how this pays out.
It is all about business and wins and money.
Paying Dak $30M+ would not allow the team to field a competitive team on defense. Who wants to watch the defense giving up points while the offense is turning the ball over. No one.

Keep emotions out of it. Right now it looks like Dak needs Dallas more than Dallas needs Dak. Wins, playoffs, and super bowls are the goal. Not one player.

Transition tag so Dak can play the market. If no takers that tells you something right off the bat. Best case we get 2 1st rounders, worse case he leaves via FA and we get a 3rd comp.

Or he can sign a cap friendly deal.

Give Dak a 4 year deal coming off a catastrophic injury?

Yea not happening. He will be tagged

Dak and his agent gambled and ya let GREED make the call....they lost.
No way the Cowboys can afford the Tag if they want any chance to build up the defense and not lose additional talented players to the Fa market.
Dak played his last game as a Cowboy yesterday.

Wouldn't shock me if they sign him if he takes the deal offered last time. I doubt the team wants another FT and that 2021 cap hit.

Like it or not , Dak's contract is all going to depend on where the team finishes............If they win the East , why would the Jones boys be inclined to dole out even more money to retain him ?
