Interesting that he was rated the highest of all the QBs they met with as far as football IQ went.... How he fell as far as he did is beyond me

Scouts didn't believe what they saw from Dak during the 2015 season and the Senior Bowl......he made huge strides as a passer but every just wrote him off as just another JManziel type that couldn't play under center

Twice on the cover of SI as a college player, once (so far) as a professional. And the guy lasted until fourth round..?

I wonder if this sort of thing happened to Joe Montana, lol!

Me, too. People keep mentioning the DUI, but I think that had almost nothing to do with it.

I _think_ NFL teams just thought he had so much work to do to get up to speed with the pro game that they preferred to roll the dice on guys who were mechanically closer, but that's just a guess. Because Dak's mechanics under center, his footwork, whatever, never looked poor to me in the first place. The guy was the MVP of the senior bowl, had the highest football IQ of anybody they brought in, is physically gifted, has the 'it' factor everybody's looking for, and was almost a 5th round pick? It doesn't make a lot of sense.

Thought the story was wentz had the highest "football IQ" of all the QB's they interviewed and Dak was second. Which of course begs the question why the hell did we try to draft Cook? Shudder shudder shudder

it sure doesn't. but what i keep going back to is the tebow effect. if tebow hadn't happened Dak would have probably been rated higher and taken higher. thats the only thing i can come make some sense out of something like this .

I do think that's what probably happened. You'd think, though, that somebody doing the research would have figured it out. It's not like Dak didn't get a ton of pre-draft scrutiny.

He didn't look like a future starter to me. His arm is just okay and his accuracy wasn't NFL level. Quite frankly, that's not a recipe for a starting NFL QB. But he's made major strides in the accuracy department. I'm assuming that his footwork was a big part of the problem, and that he's improved it greatly. It's pretty rare to see accuracy improve much, even over the span of a career. Most guys who aren't accurate enough early in the process, don't go on to ever be accurate enough. I do hope the deep ball accuracy he showed in pre-season wasn't a fluke. Eventually he'll need to be able to throw the deep ball on a regular basis.

That was partially me. I wasn't all about Randle, but I agreed with not paying Murray that money.

I had no idea Randle was as disturbingly troubled as he was though.

Zeke solves both problems.
Besides Randles troubled off field issues he wasn't talented enough to replace Murray.

While I agreed with not paying Murray an extended contract I would have Tagged him for one season. Since we were intent on extending Dez we should have instead of the losing bluff Jerry played which backfired with Dez holding out then threatening Jerry which of course he folded.

Murray is obviously showing his worth again just being misused in Philly. But that would have kept the wiinning chemistry together for what could have been a championship run in 2015. Then if Murray got hurt or had an off year his worth goes down or you don't Tag him again and let him walk. If you win a championship you might consider paying him or you Tag him again until you draft his replacement . Murray and McFadden might have been a Dream backfield too.

I'll always believe the overall situation was mismanaged.

Its amazing that in NFL history we have had all these great QBs come out in later rounds....Montana, Brady, Starr, Staubach and good ones in Burnell, Rypien, Theisman.............I think Unitas was a free agent? Well we have a free agent and 4th round pick, pretty good!

National media trying to drive that wedge.

He's playing well, but he's in the absolutely perfect position. Best offensive line in the NFL with the league's leading rusher, Dez, Bryant, Jason Witten, etc.

There's not a better QB job in the NFL right now.
LOL...Of course . The Cowboys QB is the Dream job this year. Anyone would have success.

Yes, there's always exceptions but generaly not the rule with about 80% of starting QB's selected in the first 2 rounds.
