If the 3 players you lost are not winners, what do you consider the other 19 starters, winners because you didn't get rid of them?

And again, let's not use revisionist history here and act like losing Gregory was a huge win for us. The Cowboys WANTED HIM BACK and were willing to pay him $70 million. So right there, that tells you the Cowboys valued him immensely as an edge player. And now they don't have him. The kicker here is that if he had signed with us, some of you guys talking about how great it is he is gone would be praising the Cowboys for bringing him back.

The Gregory thing is tricky. Because to me it comes off as if they didn’t want him. They had a deal done then magically added stuff in the contract that made Gregory want to bolt?

I liked Gregory. Wanted him back even on a dumb deal. But what exactly did we lose by letting him go? I’d make the same argument for Zeke. I like Zeke but had they let him go what would they have lost?

I cannot for the life of me understand why folks are scared of the Eagles. Jalen Hurts is still their QB.

Same reason people were talking up Washington last year. They want to sound smart favoring anyone but Dallas. In their defense, the Eagles are much better than Washington was and at least have an outside chance to overtake us. No smart bettor would put money on the Eagles to win the division unless they got extremely profitable odds

Here's why it's not outrageous.

On paper, our roster is not as good as the one that ended the season. It's hard to argue otherwise. Maybe we end up being better, who knows, but talent wise, we took a step back. We just did. Our plan involves a lot of hope that rookies and some bargain bin guys can fill key roles for us.

Conversely, the Eagles made major improvements. They now have a legitimate WR corps. They have arguably one of the 2-3 best OLs in football. They restocked their DL by adding a legitimate edge player in Reddick and yet another DT. They improved their one CB spot opposite Slay. They have a soft as hell schedule, especially early where they can get some real momentum whereas we have a tougher start to the season.

Would it surprise me if Dallas won the division? Of course not. But if Philly won the division? That wouldn't surprise me either. It's not that outrageous to think Philly can win the division.

I have the Eagles getting 7 to 10 wins next year ( 7 being their absolute basement), I have Dallas at 10 to 13. I think if Dallas hits their floor and Philadelphia their ceiling, the Eagles could take the division. But for 2022 I think its highly unlikely. If they hit a homerun at QB in 2023, then they become a real challenge

Collins and Gregory are not dependable. Cooper is not the 2018 Cooper. All three if they stayed would have been paid high salaries for average play and limited games. Time to go. Stop living in the past none of those three will play better for their new teams then they did in Dallas.

You do realize that the Cowboys were desperate to bring Gregory back, right? I love how you guys are acting like it was such a smart move to let him walk. We didn't let him walk. He gave us, the Jones and their huge contract offer a massive middle finger.

Desperate? If the Cowboys really wanted him back they would have dropped the language in the contract or most importantly they would have franchised him over Shultz. Giving Shultz the franchise tag over Gregory is very telling. I think Jerry wanted him back but not sure about anyone else.

I think what's funny about these threads is all the fans who get all pissy when someone suggests another NFCE team could win the division or might be better. You'd think, based on their ranting and raving about how much a fan the rest of us aren't are, that the Cowboys were a constant division winner.

The Cowboys have won the NFCE 4 times in the last 10 years. FOUR. They've won the division 6 times in 20 years. SIX.

It's hilarious that some of you are so incredulous that others might suggest a different team could win the division.

That's just how some people fan. If you asked them to bet a paycheck on it, I'm sure they'd be too smart to take you up on it, but there's nothing to lose by just being indignant.

He might be. Or he might not be. You have no idea. It's likely if he does end up being better than Gregory, it probably won't happen in Year 1 because edge players like Williams take a year or two to get better and acclimated to the game.

You are proving my point. The Cowboys strategy is largely based on hope. They fill holes with cheap FA vets and rookies hoping that they catch lightning in a bottle with the FA or that the rookie is a sure fire stud right from the start.

Unfortunately it rarely works out like that, hence why this franchise has 4 playoff wins in 25 years and hasn't sniffed a SB over that period. They put too much faith in the "unknown".

I do know. Sam Williams will be better than Randy Gregory. I understand what I see from a player. Williams is simply more talented and more determined. Just wait and see.

Dak is not that superior to Hurts that you can just dismiss the Eagles team. Dak is better, however football is a team game and the boys have lost talent level compared to last year. Division title is going to be closer than you think.

The cowboys also face one of the easiest schedules in football this year. Outside of a brutal stretch to start the year the schedule softens up and Dallas should be in position to win anywhere between 10-12 games. I imagine the Eagles will fall somewhere between 9-11 wins based on their schedule so I do think it will be more of a race to the top this season, but I do believe both teams will make the playoffs.

LOL, that's quite some spin there. So they offered him $70 million but really didn't want him back so they added some contract stuff?

Both teams have huge question marks rolling into the season, just like 27 other teams in the league, and again there are teams with a pretty solid roster that will leave people scratching their heads at the end of the season as to what happened....happens alot in the cap era NFL. The funny thing to me is some fans killing themselves over Collins, Cooper and Gregory leaving....the main call after the niner game was to not run this back they cut some higher salaries on a team that clearly was viewed as underachieving, this is how a turn around starts....sure the replacements are not all pros but we dont know what they are until the season gets going. Same with the Eagles, we dont know what their additions will be until the season starts. I clearly remeber an Eagles team that "Killed it" in FA several years ago that fell flat on their face....for any Eagles fan acting like Hurts desnt bother them they are fooling themselves, yes he could improve in the passing game, but he could also stay the same or even get worse...odds are better it wont be a big improvement, Hurts is most likley who he is a running QB with questionable at best NFL passing ceiling.
