But first? The Cowboys will exercise Lamb's fifth-year option. Having until May 1 to do it, assuming it does happen, Lamb will earn roughly $18 million for the 2024 season.

The parties can continue to negotiate, but as time moves on, one can expect his eventually APY number to be north of the current salary for the top-tier receivers in the league.

You just know we are going to overpay him based on our " we like our guys "
The only remaining question:
How bad are we going to overpay ?

Lamb is in the 4th year of his rookie contract which ends after the 2023 season. Since he was a 1st round pick Dallas has the option of slapping the 5th year option on him for 2024. So instead of letting him become a free agent in 2024 or having to place the franchise tag on him in 2024 we can apply this 5th year option for 2024.

Yeah it’s bad to overpay a second team all pro wide receiver who is 24 years old and will get better.  We have lots of Joneses on this board trying to protect daddy’s wallet.

My first reaction is "jeepers" (paraphrasing the real word I used that would get me benched) $18 million for a wide receiver! But I need to adjust to the new reality of the additional river of money flowing in from all of the new TV deals. And I think that Lamb is a fine receiver and probably deserves it in today's market.

So, I'm off to yell at a cloud about how Cokes used to cost a dime and candy bars a nickel. Now get off of my yard.

Eagles just gave Hurts 255M over 5 years so I will remain pretty agnostic about CeeDee's deal.
He's almost certainly here another 24 months and thats all that matters.

I have no problem resigning him, chief.
I just hate we overpay guys like tank, because with a cap it limits us in other areas.

Would you use the concepts used in this discussion as a reason to snag a very talented wide receiver in this soon to be draft?

Lamb stepped up in the playoffs with a QB who was absolutely shook by the big stage.
So who was stepping up before the Playoffs?

Why wasn't CeeDee Lamb stepping all Season long as expected of No.1 WR??

Dak Haters forgot...the big stage also has stage hands
