SI ranks the top 25 coaches of all time...

cobra's greatest coaches list:

1. Dave Campo
2. Chan Gailey
3. David Shula
4. Quincy Carter
5. Dave Campo
6. Bruce Coslet
7. Steve Spurrier
8. Barry Switzer
9. Rich Kotitite
10. Marty Mohrninweg

Honorable mention: Dave Campo

There are 7 coaches left for 5 spots. Which means 2 guys are getting screwed. I don't see how several of the coaches already named are ahead of these 7 guys...

Halas
Landry
Shula
Noll
Parcells
Belichek
Brown

Bottom line, this list is whack.

I think the NFL Hiring committee should be contacted. What no African American coaches in the top 25?? Did they even interview one??

[/race card]

OK seriously Holmgren and Schottenheimer are jokes right? If two of the seven of Brown, Belichick, Halas, Noll, Landry, Parcells, and Shula are left out, this list will lose all credibility... speaking of which, where did this come from again?

Belichek has won 3 Superbowls, but is the young gun on this list. Much like Gibbs is inn the HOF and Parcels is not, because he never retired for long enough.

But having said that, Belichek and BP should have made the list (Not that I know they won't be on it). But Hos is right...

Looking at it again, there is no one from 10 through 25 that I would take over the 7 coaches not yet named.

I love Jimmy Johnson, but is he better than any of those 7 guys? Hell no.

Nolls and Belichek should get bumped.

Noll did it with the same team. Who couldn't have coached that Steelers dynasty to Super Bowl victories?

Belichek is in the same category.

Shula and Landry had sustained success over more years and presided over different Super Bowl teams.

I would bump Walsh and Gibbs higher on the list, personally.

That pretty much sums it up.

I would like to see someone try to explain leaving off two of those guys.

And including Marty Chokenheimer.

We should probably be prepared for Landry to be one of the two omitted... :(

If so, there will be bloodshed.

I am already a bit miffed at some of the mediocrity on this list. A Landry snub may cause me to lose my composure.

Only reason belichek is so high is because he is most recent. Lets let him have a few more years and see where he should be ranked.

Going to Guess...

5. Parcells
4. Belichek
3. Landry
2. Noll
1. Shula

Not how I would rank them, how I think they will.

Never heard of Paul Brown? I'd say at least 50% of the guys on that list either coached under him or coached under guys who coached under him... He virtually invented the modern game. Halas is top 5 as well. No way shula is #1

5. Belichek (3 SBs)
4. Parcells (2 SBs, 3 SB Appearances, rebuilt three, in the process of number four)
3. Halas (Old school)
2. Landry (Innovator, great coach, 2 SBs, led a team to 5, 20 winning seasons in a row, built a team from gorund up, coached for twenty+ years)
1. Brown (Old school deserves who deserves to be #1)

Shula is overrated, and so is Noll (with all the talent he had).
