Same ol same ol. Adding another stud lineman does nothing if you aren't planning to adapt your offensive philosophy. I won't hold my breath waiting to see that adaptation. I sure hope we blend some defensive help with a QB tonight.

The thing is, most of us have seen Romo's work and we're done. He has shown me nothing to suggest he can move a team through the playoffs. He makes a career out of manhandling sorry teams. So to me, it's more of the same. I told you that we could build fort Knox around him, and the result would be the same. He's got some talent, but his intelligence dwindles in big games and his heart is the size of a tic in those games. He has guts as long as there's no pressure on him, I'm not being mean, it's been proven year after year.

What the fans need to see is a new QB. We don't care about new receivers, new linemen, new safeties. We've had all of that over the years with Romo staying the same.

My prediction is the same every year, we will be mediocre or right around it. If we get lucky and make the playoffs, and get bounced first round, it will give fans more stupid hope.

I know good winning QBs when I see them, and Romo isn't one.

So for me, another miserable year to stomach. I wish I could relive the 90s over and over cause this day and time sucks for Cowboy fas.

You know it's funny that even though I could only name about 7 qb that I'd rather have than Romo, I get the feeling that we won't win big with him behind the center. I guess for me it all comes down to what do you do in your "moment". Your "moment" is when it's do or die, in the biggest games and all the pressure's on you to make a play what do you do then? Those moment have cemented legends, Magic's sky hook against the Celtics, Jordan's shot against the Jazz, Eli's pass on the sidelines, Big Ben's SB touchdown, Tracey Porter's int for a td and Joe Carter's home run to name a few.

Romo's had opportunities in his "moment" but for whatever reason he hasn't come through and at some point it has to get in his head also. I wonder how the team feels when the score is tight in a big game? Do they think like I did when Roger was qbing? As long as we get the ball last then we have a chance to win or is it please don't blow this one?

Those moments I mentioned earlier don't have a lot to do with how those players played the whole game, or how their teammates played, they could've been having a terrible game but when it was time to make a play they stepped up and did it. In other worlds someone could've kidnapped them and dropped them in the game in the closing minutes and they just went out and made it happen. No excuses.

Romo has been the starting qb since 2007 and I'm still waiting on his "moment".

I can't lie, I wanted them to draft JF last night. I figure if the Boys can't be great as a team anymore they can at least be entertaining, and I think JF definitely entertains.

But with the Martin pick, I'm starting to get some hope that maybe, just maybe, Jerry is getting a little tired of being Al Davis II ( all the criticism finally getting to him a little bit? ) and might be changing his spots, making sound football decisions that actually might let the Boys become a contender down the road once again.

The Martin pick signifies hope that Jerry is finally "getting it". Let us hope it continues.

Although I didn't like the Martin pick and we should have gone defense, (hint - Safety), I think it was a very wise pick. From hearing what the Cowboys want to do in the 2nd round I think the draft will be okay.

I was a little shocked and suprised with Martin over Manziel, not because I thought JM would of been a better pick (because I dont not by a long shot), it was because for the first time Jerry had some restraint and went for what is better for this team instead of that flash player that makes the media and fans alike go nuts and brings attention to Jerry.

Martin was the BPA at #16 and some would even say a steal at that spot. He is someone we also need badly and will make our running game and our passing game be so much better. You have to know that if you watched any cowboys games in the past several years. If we went for a defensive lineman at #16 considering who was left, many would of been screaming that we reached. Trade down you say? Well if you watched the draft and the Cowboys warroom when they were on the clock, you could see it on Stephens face that they didnt have any willing trade partners.

Great pick...... finally progress to building a solid team in the trenches out rather than going all flash.

Stop crying and pop a Xanax.. Cowboys did well...
Stop crying and pop a Xanax.. Cowboys did well...

Dumb. Really stupid post.
O-lineman just aren't fun picks to most people. I doubt many are lining up to buy the new Martin jersey. They want to see the flashy big play guys. I for one think the boring drafts will lead to exciting post seasons. I am not a huge fan of Manziel for the record. He has a personality and face I would like to slap whenever I see him and I am not convinced that he is going to have the same type of success in the league. Time will tell, but either way the Cowboys made a smart football decision.

Finally something I agree with!! Personality and face id like to smack!!
Internet is a fun
Very clever and even more original.

If you aren't thrilled with our pick right now I don't know what you're doing with your life. I really don't.

Smith-Martin-Beard.

Oh Lawd.
Being thrilled or not about a draft pick indicates how well ones running their life?
That's interesting.

I know the "smart" thing was to pick Zack. Planning for our future, which is what most of you say we don't do, would IMO be drafting JM.
We will see but I have the same feeling as when we passed on Moss. I really honestly hope I'm wrong. But...

Picking Johnny football would have been a very foolish move. There are many other positions that have a higher level of importance than a flash in the pan.

The funny thing in all of this is those feeling sick over this act like Manziel was a sure fire lock like an Andrew Luck type QB.

He wasn't. His bust potential was massive.

And likely when he did bust, those same people *****ing about not taking Manziel would have killed Jones for taking Manziel.

Johnny Manziel was without a doubt the last player in this entire draft I wanted the Cowboys to take.

No. That's all wrong. If Jones was right them I will gladly say I was wrong.
I honestly want to be totally wrong.
I'm not saying that like many people over use it but in the back of their mind want to be right. I don't want to be right. Furthermore, I'm not sure I am. I, after my initial denial, started thinking we made a big mistake.

Same feeling with moss. Same with the last couple of Detroit games and Green Bay. Just a feeling. I'm just being honest.

We won't know if The Manziel pass was another Randy Moss for a few years. Those of us that say otherwise or act as though Jerry made the best possible move in the 1st round "today" are fooling themselves. It will be interesting to see how Manziel shakes out in Cleveland. I'll be keeping up with it.

Dude.. I'm sick about it too but the worst thing to do is to make a woe is me post about how sick you are. There are an abundance of fans on this site that dislike Manziel. They're entitled to their opinions. As are we... But to those that embrace the "safe" pick, your thread has all the makings of a well crafted dart board.

People like to bash Cleveland. It's the popular trendy uber cool thing to do. What they fail to realize is that Manziel is going into a great situation with a franchise that is clearly on the rise. They have all of the tools. They just needed a QB. Cleveland will be fun to watch and they are instantly better thanks to their diligence.

I didn't think it was woe is me thread. Since several of you said it I will consider it a possibility.
I was simply trying to express how I felt.
Maybe sick was too strong of a word as some take everything literally.
I still don't feel good about the pick but I disagree it is the worst thing I could do.

Supposedly the Patriots scouting report for Manziel has been leaked online. Not so many kind words for the guy.

The website is hammered but these are some of the listed excerpts.
  • Doesn’t study the game, said to know about 60% of the offense in ’12, never watches film; one source said only time he watched film during ’12 was before ALUN.
  • Knows how to scheme the system, arrogant and full of himself, but he’s not smug to coaches. Has been like this since Day 1, has never gone to class, goes to beat of own drum, but has ultimate confidence.
  • Couple of TXTC sources say can’t yell/scream at him or he shuts down; has walked away from Kingsbury in the past.

If this is legit, Bill is probably going to sniff the source out and order a Code Red.

Its a completely different situation from passing on Moss. You have no way to get Johnny Manziel on the field. Manziel could go on to win multiple super bowls and I will still stand by the decision to pass on him. If he came out in two years? Then I may not feel the same way.

Agreed. I really like Manziel - but I guess that 'crack' Dallas staff didn't feel the opportunity to draft him filled a current need. So, with slight reservation, I will defer to the pros.
