Im sure they love that the offense turns the ball over, or goes 3 and out more often than not.

Really, 1 TD was a 13 yard drive
another Roy got unlucky hitting the ref
1 was defensive...15 points?

I really didnt think the defense was THAT bad tonite. They were put in a lot of tough situations.

The thing that always bothers me about this defense the most is missed opportunities. Tonite alone I can think of at least 3 or 4

1. Watkins drops INT
2. James drops INT
3. Ellis whiffs on sack and eli scrambles for 1st and goal

its frustrating because i feel like they are really close to being absolutely dominant, but miss opportunities

Whatever happened to basic tackling technique? We had problems tackling Barber. I don't know how many tackles this guy broke tonight, but it's shameful for us.

The next thingh I want to know is, why is it that the only blitz we have is the all out blitz?

This is not an impact unit and it hasn't been for a long time.

It nearly was tonight. Ellis' sack and forced fumble that was reversed for some reason and Ware's forced fumble that gave us the ball inside the 15 could have been a swing of nine to 16 points. Both were big plays the defense made that didn't end up having any impact at all. If Ellis' sack had stood, the Giants could have been punting from deep in their territory instead of from the 45, which would have kept the ball from being downed at the 1, leading to the safety. And our offense should have capitalized on Barber's fumble -- that wasn't the defense's fault.

The defense made quite a few big plays tonight and nearly had two more interceptions. The biggest problem wasn't a lack of big plays, it was allowing 10 conversions on third or fourth down. We had allowed only 19 of those all season before tonight.

I could easily make excuses for the D in their other rough games but this game... I can't really say much to bail them out other than the official taking roy out on that early play. But throughout the rest of the game, they just got punished...

It seems this defense just has no endurance and can't play at the end of games if it was mismanaged. If the offense doesn't have a great amount of time of possession, the D just wears out at the end of games and can't stop anything. This game seemed as if the defense was totally out of it by the 3rd quarter alone....

So you'd rather have him give up three points, then save three points instead of not giving up anything and not saving anything?

Personally, I'd rather have him not give up anything. That long catch by Burress -- good coverage, by the way, just nearly impossible to defend -- could have led to a touchdown. Fortunately, we held them to a field goal after it.

Not sure how you came up with that.

I just said it was nice to see him prevent points.

But whatever floats your boat.

I'm tired of seeing the defense get a turnover or make a stop and the offense do nothing with it.

That is disheartening to the defense, they can only do so much. Maybe things will finally change with Romo.
This defense hasn't played well against a good team all year.

Tiki always rapes us up the middle, and he did it again tonight. Other than that, the defense didn't play that bad, they just didn't make the plays when they needed to. Watkins dropped interception, James dropped interception, ref taking out Roy, etc.

He allowed a 44-yard catch by Burress (the longest catch he has allowed since 2004), which gave the Giants the ball at our 28 and resulted in a field goal. So in essence, he gave up three points.

He later picked off a pass in the end zone on third down. Had it been an incompletion, the Giants probably would have kicked a field goal. So he saved three points.

If he had had his usual game, he wouldn't have allowed the 44-yard catch, and he wouldn't have gotten an interception. So he wouldn't have directly allowed or saved any points. Personally, I'd rather have that, since that 44-yard catch could have led to a touchdown instead of a field goal.

Does that explain it?

It seemed like he hurt us more by bouncing outside.

The great thing about blitzing and not getting to the QB is, that it usually kills you. Unless the instruction on the playsheet say;

Rush 7. Be sure to engage every blocker, and never let go.....

the front seven needs a serious gut check.
Ain't that the truth tho. We had a loose ball, ON the ground and our guys looked to be ballroom dancing.
