kid is very talented and one of the best players in the world right now. so I got a question for you hockey fans. does this kid ever fight his own battles? I saw again last night on espn he got checked into the boards and instead of doing something about it he ran his little girly mouth again. than when the guy went to go after him one of Crosby's teammates went after the guy. the guy threw Crosby's teammate out of the way only to be confronted by another. meanwhile Crosby is skating around just watching. I've seen this happen several times so what's the deal with that?

The deal is he's the best player they have and by far.

No need for him to spend any time off the ice because of a fight.

I think it's kind of funny that he's like a mafia don on ice.

Wayne Gretzky never fought either. Imagine if Crosby broke his hand in a fight...

He has fought in the past but usually the better players do not fight for risk of injury.

Just like we soldiers fight for us because either we don't want to, are incapable or are too valuable to be sacrificed, in hockey there are designated goons who fight so that the valuable players don't.

Gretzky had Semenko. Bobby Clarke had Schultz, Saleski and Bob Kelly, the list goes on.

Old time guys like Mau Richard, Gordie Howe etc often fought but not anymore.

Pretty much. It's like those big mouth girls who mouth off at you at games, bars, get in your grill yet when you tell the #*@" off they get all offended and some *** has to defend her honour.

Fyi I didn't mean "we soldiers", I meant we have soldiers.

I think Crosby gets a bad rap out of comparisons to Ovechkin. Ovechkin is portrayed as a fun loving guy who has this great joy for the game while Crosby is portrayed as a more serious, truculent whiner. I guarantee that Crosby loves to play as much as Ovechkin, he is just not nearly as demonstrative.

Crosby is a great player. No one can deny that.

That still doesn't change the fact that he's a *****. When he has fought, he's been a cheap shot artist. I understand why he doesn't, and I don't think he should....but he needs to check his mouth sometimes. When he's not talking **** he's whining about something. I think the whining bothers me a lot more than the **** talking though...

Ovechkin running around jumping at the glass for every goal is annoying as hell (not to mention his astronaut tinted visor). He also had his reputation tarnished during the Olympics for doing very little other than almost putting Jammy Jagr in his grave. He also pushed a fan taking a picture of him at the Sochi pavillion.

Crosby is a classy kid and a great all-around hockey player.

In general, it is quite rare that a hockey star would get involved in a fight due to the risk of a hand/wrist injury. This is the way it has been for a very long time. The only time a star fights is over something very personal. This is what "goons" are for and many have had a long career in the NHL just for this purpose. No one is supposed to take cheap shots at the stars and everyone knows it. Even too hard of a clean hit can draw retaliation.

The issue about whining - you see this in all the sports to some degree. Gretzky was one of the biggest whiners of all-time.

As far as Ovie goes, he's just Russian white trash, IMO.

As usual, you're completely clueless.

While he didn't do **** against your Canadian team, he was outstanding in every other game in the Olympics. He was the best player on the ice every night up until their elimination. Try watching the games rather than reading the box scores before you comment on them.

As far as his celebrations....yeah, shame on him for loving the sport. What an annoying person.

I won't comment on his class outside of the rink, as I really don't know much about him....but on the ice, he's far from classy. It's a commonly held opinion throughout the league.

Gretzky was a whiner too....and that's why I didn't like him either. Respect for the both of their games, yes....but nothing but contempt for the way they carried themselves on the ice. Whining was deplorable in my upbringing. I guess its not always the same for everyone.

As far as the Ovechkin white trash comment...well, I think that's a little beneath your maturity level. You seem more reasonable than that.

I don't have a problem with the whining that you do. Crosby will jaw at the refs, at the opposition, but he is intense and that is what makes him a great player. I would love to hear what is said on the ice, I wish that they could mike everybody and broadcast it unfiltered. I think it would be hilarious....

I probably watched more than you did moron. I highly doubt you watched their late midnight ET games like I did.

Just because he plays for the Capitals doesn't mean you have to defend him to the death.
