I probably watched more than you did moron. I highly doubt you watched their late midnight ET games like I did.

Just because he plays for the Capitals doesn't mean you have to defend him to the death.

I'd watch who you call moron. With you're penchant for jaw-dropping stupidity, someone might take offense to something you say by accident and whip your ***. I'd have to shake that woman's hand.

I watched every Russian and United States hockey game, plus a several others...I don't need to watch any more to know what happened in those games.....and anyone that claims Ovechkin did "very little" in the games leading up to the Canadian debacle either didn't watch the games, or is a ****ing idiot. Take your pick.

...and I'm not defending him to death. I've already admitted he played like **** against Canada. It was embarrassing. He hasn't played well since, either.

Maybe you should stick to curling or ice dancing...you clearly aren't very knowledgeable of real sports.

I'm sure you could take him.

I won't comment on his class outside of the rink, as I really don't know much about him....but on the ice, he's far from classy. It's a commonly held opinion throughout the league.

Gretzky was a whiner too....and that's why I didn't like him either. Respect for the both of their games, yes....but nothing but contempt for the way they carried themselves on the ice. Whining was deplorable in my upbringing. I guess its not always the same for everyone.

As far as the Ovechkin white trash comment...well, I think that's a little beneath your maturity level. You seem more reasonable than that.

It stems from him digging out the lucky loonie embedded in the ice after the World Championship in 2008.

It's tantamount to someone desecrating the star in Cowboys stadium to Canadians. He is not well liked here for that reason.

I wish he'd get his act together. I have him in my hockey pool.

Ovechkin is probably the most talented player in the NHL. His dirty tactics (like when he charged and bowled over Price and Gill before the Olympics), his hits from behind which basically go unpunished by the league, his dark visor, unkempt look and his jumping around when he scores a 5-1 goal (he should act like he has done it before and will again) are annoying to say the least.

It does not detract from his talent but he is not as classy as Crosby. It might be cultural but Crosby would never push over a person wanting to take his picture like Ovechkin did. Crosby would never jump against the glass when he scored to make it 5-1.

Talent wise, I would take Ovechkin but class wise would take Crosby.

When has Ovechkin jumped up against the glass when its 5-1? Can you give me one example? And who cares if he does celebrate, I think it adds to the game quite a bit. The Don Cherry/Old Soviet mentality of robotic players doesn't exactly sell the game. Ovechkin does with his energy and enthusiasm

Along with that, the hit on Gil was legit, seeing the puck was under him. That was not interference, and no penalty was called on the play (which makes it curious as to why the goal was disallowed)

I have probably met AO a dozen times since he was drafted. Easily the nicest most accesable superstar athlete I have met, although he is much more guarded today then he was his rookie year

Hockey is a game with unwritten codes/rules, you don't overtly celebrate if up by more than 3 (just like in football you shouldn't throw to the endzone in the last two minutes when up by 20) or in baseball steal second when up by 7. As for a specific game, please I know he has done it but I cannot remember the specific game, time of the goal etc.

I know fantasy leagues have dulled those rules but they are still there.

The goal did not count not so much because he bowled Gill over but because he also prevented Price from making a play by taking him into the net with the puck. He interfered with the goalie's attempt to make a play.

SkinHokieFan is right though. If there was no penalty, the goal should have counted. I watched the game live and still remember the play. I think that the play should have been penalized, but when there was no penalty I was mystified as to why the goal never counted.

Rule states they can call the goal off but not call a penalty. You do not have to have a penalty called to nullify the goal.

I understand that goals can be called back without there being a penalty, but on that specific play, there should have been either a penalty, or the goal should have counted. Do you understand what I mean?

Not really he was too out of control and didn't intentionally interfere with Price, he just went in, bowled Gill over and in falling down took Price into the net.

Wasn't goalie interference sufficient for a penalty but was enough to deny the goal. He prevented Price albeit unintentionally from making a play.
