Achilles is the worst thing you can tear for a CB. Ask Kevin Smith.

That said, I would consider him at #60 as he would have gone in the top 30 in this already loaded DB draft.

An obvious attempt at damage control for a terribly unfortunate situation. But they can say what they want, teams aren't buying a return that quickly.

"They" can say whatever they want, but what a doctor says is different....if a trusted doctor is saying he can recover that quickly why would you doubt it? I admit that September does sound a bit optimistic, but I'm not a doctor to argue either...

Does this change anything for you? For other teams?

Isn't this the same six month window?

Doesn't look any different to me and I wouldn't change how I looked at him based on this.

Regardless, it is a year before that player is going to be anywhere close to being back to pre-injury form.

If someone takes Jones, you might as well count on a redshirt year. Getting the player back at 50-75% is not the same.

It's not like there isn't precedent for it. In 2012, Terrell Suggs suffered pretty much the exact same injury, tearing the "upper" part of the achilles where it attaches to the calf. Suggs suffered the injury in May and returned in October. Roughly 5 1/2 months.

I see his doctor saying it. That's one reason I doubt it. The other is the previous history concerning this injury.

He'll get picked by a team with multiple 2nd day picks.

I'm guessing he'll be a Brown. They have nothing to play for next year anyways.

I can definitely see that. They have the draft am,o, and the ability to grab a top talent knowing they'll "redshirt" him.

Heck, I might do it in round 3 if I got another corner in round 2 were he still available there.

I would take him in round 3.

Im fine drafting for value in round 3 with injured players but I hate the 2nd round approach of taking injured players.

A doctor that does that type of surgery routinely and has many other patients. Why would you think a doctor would put their reputation on the line and flat out lie for a football player he probably met 3/4 days before doing the surgery? Like I said, it's an optimistic timetable and probably won't end up being happening, but for someone on the internet who isn't a doctor to read a statement coming directly from an actual doctor and just dismiss it is pretty ridiculous. I guess that's what the internet is tho...

For now Jones should be considered a PUP list player. That puts him at a 7-8 month recovery period, which is fairly reasonable and entriely possible. For a guy that was probably a lock to go top 15 it's a great value. I'd take him at 60 in a heartbeat.

If a Rookie can't be ready by training camp, then it is not very smart to expect him to contribute in any meaningful way during the season. Once you are into the season, you don't have time to teach rookies what they need to know. You don't have time to give them reps so it's very, very difficult to get them ready to be able to participate in things like game plans when you already have to know what your schemes dictate in any given situation. You can take a guy but it's foolish to exect a guy to play if he misses camp.

Maliek Collins did it just last year. I'm not saying his injury will turn out like that, but I'm not going to just assume because a rookie didn't practice in training camp that they should be wrote off for the year.

Maybe the same reason why Michael Jackson was able to find a doctor who would administer him propofol?

I hate the way this board assumes all injuries are the same. There are varying degrees to any injury. But it would be nice to replace Jaylon Gate with a brand new one!

Whoa whoa whoa.

Hold on a second here.

You are saying a broken bone in the foot that is stabilized with a screw like Maliek Collins had is not the same as a torn Achilles'?

Well, I was more or less pointing to the fact that when a player injures something, the doctors on this board (not the real doctors on this board) google the injury and look at the timetable and produce the final prognosis. Then everybody digs up information to support whatever opinion they think will be the final outcome, then it's fight to the death.

Injuries are specific to every individual with varying degrees. Due to HIPPA laws which some people just can't grasp, we don't get much information on the extent of an injury and even less details on their recovery unless that player wants to make it public. Dr's won't stick their necks out for no reason and I'm positive this report was waivered by Jones himself.

Not a big fan of Jones at 60, but if they feel he can contribute at some point in the year, I would be OK with it.

My post was in general about players who miss training camp due to injuries and immediately writing them off. Not comparing Collins to Jones.
