Only Romo has a chance to be another starter for the Cowboys this year. And that's only if Bledsoe goes down.
Come right down to it, too, Bledsoe might be one of only a handful of guarenteed locks for his position- joining Roy, Terrance and Witten. Think about it; The ENTIRE Oline is up in the air as of this point, we don't know who will be back and those that could we don't even know at this point if we are going to pay them the money they have coming (Allen) or if they'll even come all the way back from injury (Flozell). WR is filled with 2 starters who can pretty much be guaranteed that one of them will be sitting before opening day, as good a guess as anyone who TO or someone else will come in and replace, Key or Terry. RB hasn't been set since we drafted Julius, and a long time before that too--he's unpredictable and we don't even know if he can make it injury-free through train camp, let alone trust he'll be a guaranteed starter for us for 16 games. Then the defensive front 8 is filled with so many 2nd year guys we really don't know at this point what they'll look like or if they sophmore jinx could shred any number of them down to mediocracy. And then in the secondary opposite Roy and Terrance, an unwanted at FS as it is and two aging stars filling the 2nd cb spot.
It would be crazy to pay that kind of money for a position which is already one of our most reliable and dependable on the team as is. Give Bledsoe 1 top notch WR or premier RB instead while patching up that oline. Bring in Brees then he'd be dealing with an unreliable rb, a oline that would have him down on his knees praying half the time in huddle, and a wr corps who has deluted themselves to the fact that they're #1's in this league even still at their ripe old age. In that kind of situation, Dree Brews would have to be careful not to fool us into thinking he's Drew Henson. Just stick with the Drew we got, he has the most to offer us at this time.
