Drew Brees was awful last year. He didn't post good numbers on ANY good teams. Except arguably the Giants, who I believe weren't playing well in the beginning of the year. Same with New England.

Every 100+ qb rating game was against a bad team.
His 90+ qb rating game was against Kansas City.
His 80+ qb rating game was against Miami.

Everything else was below 80. He dipped below 70 four times.

In all games with Flozell Adams, Drew Bledsoe had a 90 QB rating or higher. Except in the game against Oakland.

You won't believe how different this offense will be when we get Flozell back. Add more talent on the line, and a fullback to block for Bledsoe and Jones... and you've got the offense I thought we would be last year.

I'd say we are 7 players away from being one of the best teams in the nfl.

I would love to see us get the following

# 1 McGinest
# 2 Stud Free Safety
# 3 Stud Inside linebacker
# 4 Bryant, Nedney, or Longwell
# 5 Bentley
#6 Shaffer
#7 Sowell

And that is easily obtained with 22 million dollars.

I would agree...fix the OL, the QB we have throws it well when he has good protection

Drew Brees isnt Troy Aikman or John Elway, some people on here are acting like he is...

Not to mention that growth on his face ...

If SD is stupid enough not to lock this kid up,, Jerry needs to sign him at 12:01 Friday morning. No questions asked.

He lacks the big arm parcells loves.

Brees>Bledsoe

That said, he won't be a Cowboy.

Bah. Bledsoe > Brees. Age vs. injury. Give me age, the better arm, and the more reasonable contract.

Makes you wonder how bad that shoulder injury really was. I'm guessing it was pretty severe for San Diego to make such an abrupt and final decision. Brees might be 'damaged goods'.

We already have one of the top QB's in the NFL named Drew, and other Drew in development.

Brees is overrated anyway, the chargers offense has been successful because of LT and antonio gates being a monster in the middle of the field.

You mean as long is Parcells is running the Cowboys.

Question ...isn't it clear from the "Writing on the Wall" that Drew Brees to Dallas would foster a QB controversy? Secondly, is Drew Brees willing to take a back seat to Drew Bledsoe?

Saying that Brees was only good because he had LT and Gates is the same reason we get offended at people when they say that Troy was only good because of Michael, Emmitt and Jay. I think the guy is a major upgrade over Bledsoe. Having said that, I don't think it will happen, but to say he would not be an upgrade over Bledsoe is just crazy. And yes, I watched him play many games last year.

To me, its not whether or not Brees is better than Bledsoe, but whether or not he is better than Henson. We are very close to having a very competive team again and going deep in the playoffs for the next several years.. when will we have a chance to sign a young QB again? To move up in the top 10 from a late 20s spot in the draft would take alot of picks. Bledsoe only has a couple of years at most left as a starter in this league. This kid has a lot of up side,, and i know its a gamble with his shoulder,, but so is taking a qB early in the draft and grooming him. I would hate to be 3 years out, with a dominent D, and all the weapons of O we could want, except a QB. Getting Brees now would be a good move. And if he out performs Bledsoe in Camp, then he starts, if not, he is #2.

Only Romo has a chance to be another starter for the Cowboys this year. And that's only if Bledsoe goes down.

Come right down to it, too, Bledsoe might be one of only a handful of guarenteed locks for his position- joining Roy, Terrance and Witten. Think about it; The ENTIRE Oline is up in the air as of this point, we don't know who will be back and those that could we don't even know at this point if we are going to pay them the money they have coming (Allen) or if they'll even come all the way back from injury (Flozell). WR is filled with 2 starters who can pretty much be guaranteed that one of them will be sitting before opening day, as good a guess as anyone who TO or someone else will come in and replace, Key or Terry. RB hasn't been set since we drafted Julius, and a long time before that too--he's unpredictable and we don't even know if he can make it injury-free through train camp, let alone trust he'll be a guaranteed starter for us for 16 games. Then the defensive front 8 is filled with so many 2nd year guys we really don't know at this point what they'll look like or if they sophmore jinx could shred any number of them down to mediocracy. And then in the secondary opposite Roy and Terrance, an unwanted at FS as it is and two aging stars filling the 2nd cb spot.

It would be crazy to pay that kind of money for a position which is already one of our most reliable and dependable on the team as is. Give Bledsoe 1 top notch WR or premier RB instead while patching up that oline. Bring in Brees then he'd be dealing with an unreliable rb, a oline that would have him down on his knees praying half the time in huddle, and a wr corps who has deluted themselves to the fact that they're #1's in this league even still at their ripe old age. In that kind of situation, Dree Brews would have to be careful not to fool us into thinking he's Drew Henson. Just stick with the Drew we got, he has the most to offer us at this time.

Drew Brees isnt much better that Bledsoe, if at all

He just wasnt getting sacked every other play

In their head-to-head game in the season opener..Bledsoe completely out-played him.

Brees was confused, frustrated and was screaming at the refs and his own players by the 4th Qt. and lost his composure several times. making big mistakes that cost them the game, not to mention his last INT that cost the game.

We don't need him.

If Bledsoe wasn't here, if Henson and Romo were definitely a 'thumbs-down' as eventually succeeding as a #1 QB in the future for Dallas..

..then maybe you retool with a guy like Brees.

But I think it would require a complete overhaul of the offense that Dallas is installing with Bledsoe and a readjustment to Bree's strengths and weaknesses and that might not be productive in the short-term.

With Bledsoe, that whole system is being set up to help him succeed. From players to assistant coaches. I saw nothing that dissuaded me from backing Bledsoe last year.

He made some mistakes at times, but he had a lot of help from a lack of a running game and the OL meltdown.

Fix that and keep him healthy and you have the best shot at winning in the next two years.

I wouldn't say the same if Brees was in the driver seat.
