With 2 spots open, resign the guy to kick off
I totally agree and mentioned this once Thompson went down. We need every special teams edge we can get now.

I'd sign him. I probably wouldn't have cut him. Last week, I noticed a good 10 yards difference in the distance between the two kickers. I see that as value myself. JMO of course.

How many guys are on the roster really doesn't matter since they can't all be active on Sunday anyway....signing two more guys to fill out our 53 man roster has very little to do with which guys suit up and play on Sunday.

Assuming a high scoring game (at least 4 scores/KO's) and 1 to start a half, that's 50 extra yards of offense for Indy.

It also means we sit someone who has not been sitting. Suisham has not been active lately so to make him active someone else has to sit. I don't think Dallas can afford to sit another player so a 2nd kicker can take a spot. With Ellis and Glenn being out (not sure about Glenn) we are keeping extra people to rotate into those spots and while some of these guys have been active the only reason they were active is because Dallas has not been using a 2nd kicker as of late. I'd be suprised if we do so this weekend

I don't know about that. We've had how many safeties active of late? I think you can sit at least one of those guys and Coleman is not going to be active so I don't know. Maybe there is room.

They are also part of the coverage team. I just think it is a waste of a spot having to bring 2 kickers and a punter into a game. Vandy has been putting the ball around the between the 10 and 5 yard line on kicks and has a couple of touchbacks on his kicks, myself I'm willing to go into this game with that over the extra kicker who last time he was active did not do such a great job with his kickoffs.

Coleman was cut. We'll have 2 FS and 2 SS I would think.

Question I was checking Shaun Suisham stats and but with the 49ers?
Just checked the Cowboys website and it appears Suisham is not on the team at all.

Suisham averaged 62.8 yards per kickoff in his 3 games this season.

Vanderjagt has a 58.2 yard average.

That's 23 yards on 5 kickoffs, not 50.

Moreover, the return average on Vandy's kicks is 16.6 yards. Suisham's return average is 25.4. Even if the TD scored on him were just another 20 yarder, his average return would still be 18.1 yards.

Total difference on 5 kicks then, assuming adjusted averages, -- about 15.5 yards in Suisham's favor.

I would rather replace him with someone that could help in putting pressure on Manning on EVERY defensive play vs. trying to gain an extra 5-10 yards on each of our 10 kickoffs we'll have Sunday.

Who is that guy and why isn't he on the team now?

Maybe deactivate Vanderjagt and go w/ Suisham. If we're relying on FG's we're gonna lose anyway.

Neil Rackers has one of the strongest legs in the NFL. I think he led the league in kickoff average last year and is top 5 this season. Sushi may be better than Vandy, but he still isn't close to Rackers.

To be honest, I never really loved Rackers. He had one good year but historically, he has not been all that great IMO. Now Vinnie, that's a guy I would have payed money to sign. Of course, it was not to be. Vandy, I just don't like much. Lots of reasons but mostly, I just don't like the guy.

I thought I was crazy for starting this thread, you're out of my league. If we're relying on FG's (plural) you're probably right. If it's a late FG, I'm not so sure. It could be close at the end and I'd rather have Vandy for a win/lose kick.

I was somewhat joking, but, i'm not joking about having almost zero confidence in Vandy right now on FG's....another doinker last week.

Has McBriar ever kicked off before?
