Sign him and starting grooming for 2010 and beyond.

now why would we give up on our own draft pick, mcgee, over a practice squad player? then, since we sign him he has to go on the active roster, now we have (4) QB's or we cut one.

who do we cut?

some people just don't seem to think things through, just get emotional and demand instant solutions.

then again i think we're long past instant solution these days, but i don't think knee-jerking around would fix the problems.

First of all, I'm happy with Tony Romo as our starter. Is he perfect? No. Is he a top 5 guy? Not yet, not in my book anyway. Is he WAY above average? Absolutely. I'll take him over most in the NFL today.

Second. Our next QB doesn't need to come off a practice squad, and doesn't need to be undrafted either. For every guy you hit on like that, there will be hundreds of failures. We just got lucky with Romo, period.

I can't help it, I'm a pedigree guy at the QB position. Some guys I like coming out soon. In no particular order.

Sam Bradford
Colt McCoy - not as high on him
Jake Locker - my favorite. I really, really like this guy's abilities
Jimmy Clausen - has definitely taken his game to a new level this year

romo is romo. those who hate him now probably forget the fairy tale beginning romo did in fact do. we *know* he can be a top tier qb.

now we know he can be a bottom-feeder also.

that's our romo and those are our frustrations and always will be. the problem is in his head, as many have pointed out. he plays MUCH better when he's not thinking, but he makes mistakes too. now he's thinking too much to cut down on the mistakes and every mistake is now like quicksand to him.

queue in a "the replacements" flashback here.

romo just needs to go out and let whatever happens happen and just do it.

stop thinking. he's never shown to be good when he does, but he has when he just plays the game.

if he were in a less stressful town/situation, i think he'd excel.

I didn't think you could sign a player off another team's practice squad without giving up something. Except when they're placed on waivers before going to the practice squad.

I wil chip in for the bus ticket to get him out of Green Bay. The guy is horrible. Mike McCarthy knows Qbs and apparently felt that after one year he just does not have it. He was horrible in preseason against 4th stringers. I think one game he had a passer rating of 0.00. You can have him. For free. No way the Packers would move him to the roster if somebody wanted him.

Top 5? I'm not even sure he's top 31 anymore.

far as i know you don't have to give up anything to sign a PS player, you only have to put that player on your active roster.

Pathetic list. 1 out of 4 of those MIGHT make it as a starter for more than a year...maybe....just because your the QB at OU, Texas, ND, Washington, does not mean you will be good in the NFL. Watch these guys play, its not that hard to see.

Lmao! That guy can't even get a leg on Aaron Rodgers. Not too mention Packers fans even see him as a complete joke. No thanks about a zillion times, I'll pass.

I'm not by any measure sold on Romo, he's still got mounds to prove, but seriously he deserves better competition then that. Of which I would be all for, just not in the form of midget nobody.

Even though he didn't pan out, I think we made a mistake with Romo when we drafted and traded Brady Quinn. And Brady Quinn replaceable with virtually any draft years' top QB prospect at the time of their draft, and that being unpredictable to know what they'll become. I just think ala. Steve Walsh, someone to make you "look over your back-shoulders" is a good thing, and especially in those early years. Quinn was ours and he could have been that. And just like Walsh standing behind Aikman, it didn't matter the career result of the "other guy", and wouldn't have mattered with Quinn's failure either I don't think. Even though it took a few years, I think Romo came by, and then was able to keep, his job, a little too easily. We literally did put all our eggs in one basket- and then were just foolish enough to let him know it too.

Whaaaaaa?!?!?!?!!?!????

Dallas traded the draft choice. No way Dallas would have selected Quinn if they didn't - would have just taken Spencer at the spot.

There is a reason he is on the practice squad and not somebody's active roster...............he freaking sucks.

His preaseason was pathetic and he was playing against 3rd string scrubs.

Why exactly does Brian Brohm appear to suck so bad? I remember about 2 or so years ago at one point ol' Mel Kiper had him projected as the top overall pick in the 08' draft early on...Then louisville got decimated by injuries and a comically bad defense and he fell and now he evidently sucks. Goes to show with quarterbacks that you can blink and they literally aren't what you thought they were. It's gotta be the most inexact position in sports, agreed?
