Signing Dez wasn't about signing Dez

I hope Dez doesn't have a Reggie in his camp.

I hope not either. The extended circle of hanger ons that Vernon, the DT, has is what I imagine in Dez's life. Hopefully Roc Nation does set him up with some financial management. He seems like one of those guys who will be bankrupt 5 years after retiring and not know where it all went.

The whole thing was a circus to keep Dallas in the news during the offseason. Jerry was not about to let his brightest star walk or hold out..

So was that the reason in Denver and Kansas City, too?

No. Deadlines make deals.

What concerns me is if the team decided that Dez would be so expensive, they could forgo the running attack to keep him.

Is Dez the ultimate difference maker? Does Dez' 4.7625 catches per game outweigh a rushing attack?

Can the team win with Dez more than they can win with an effective rushing game? There are stats people here who will rush to tell me passing yards and this and that. Yet simply looking at last year's team would suggest the rushing attack made the rest of the team gin.

Now here comes the any RB behind this line set. And while there is some truth to that statement, it still doesn't outweigh the facts of last year's team, playing a smoke and mirrors defense, who controlled the clock, won on third downs, and posted 28 PPG.

If Dallas had drafted a premier rusher, I would not be concerned.

But what I fear is the same myopic logic that stated any one of 500 coaches applied the same tenet to any one of 500 RBs behind this line.

So Dez gets paid, and we have a huge question mark of being just consistent with last years success.

Also Dez contributes far more to this team than his on field production. It doesn't outweigh a rushing attack but no one said we were going to forgo a running game either.
