Silver Lining, Cassel exposed!

Anyone that comes here as a backup will probably get exposed.

Cassell is a solid player and anyone who has watched him play before he got Jason Garretted knows that.

He's won 35 NFL games.

Solid? A career QBR that is under 80 and 20 of those wins came in two seasons from several years back.

Cassell has the slowest delivery I have ever seen, stares down his receivers, and cant find the open man. He is 7 years removed from is coming out party in NE that everyone keeps referencing as proof of his capability.

I originally thought that Cassel could be a suitable backup, give him a year etc.... but after viewing these past few weeks....guy just cant play anymore...at least we know we need a vet backup and rookie for next year!! onto the next issue, and so on...

is this supposed to make me feel better?

Cassell is on a one-year deal anyway. The collection of QB's that will be available after this season will be interesting. Granted there probably won't be any guy there I would want starting for a full season, but in a short-term situation– yeah.

I guarantee you one of the guys we worked out earlier in the year will be the backup here next season. Matt Flynn, Christan Ponder or one of those other qb's will be the vet backup and then they'll draft a guy later in the draft to try and groom.

And this is what watching 3rd downs in that game yesterday felt like. "Right in the kisser, Matt. Show that DB who's boss!"

I look at it from the other side. Last year when Weeden came in for a game and a half he (somehow) did enough to convince Jerruh he would be a suitable backup once again. If he had been given 7 or however many games that Cassell has gotten he too would have been exposed, and maybe we wouldn't even be in this position. There's no mistake to be made with Cassell, there should be no belief that they can walk into next season with this guy as the primary backup, now they can get serious about acquiring a legitimate backup QB.

Weeden didn't do anything last year. Jerry just ignored the situation and has admitted as much. This has nothing to do with any sort of evaluation and everything to do with just overlooking the situation.

sarcasm aside....Cassel proved to everyone he can't play....at least I hoped he proved that to JJ
