WAIVER WIRE. When a player is claimed by more than one team, then the team with the worst record in the 2002 NFL regular season will be awarded the player (and assume the provisions of his contract). If the 2002 records of two or more clubs who claim the same player are identical, then additional tie breakers are used to determine to which team the player is allocated.
What was our record in 2002 :lmao:

He won't go on waivers. He'll be released and he can choose where he wants to go.

I know, just wanted a laugh though

Chris...welcome to Dallas.

Why would he want to come to Dallas to be the 3rd QB when he probably has possibilities are being a #2 elsewhere.

Because he couldn't possibly learn anybody's system well enough to be a 2 this year, and because with 90 year old Brad Johnson as the 2 for the Boys, that job will be coming open in the not too distant future...

He has also reportedly told friends that he'd love to come play for the Cowboys...

:hammer:

Hmmm...I guess if he was picked up after clearing waivers that he'd be worth a 3rd QB position here.

I think he is a pretty good qb, slow delivery but he gets into his windup quick and throws a laser. Screams good backup QB to me. He looked good for pittsburgh and that was with scrubs around him.

(Leftwich) winds up like a 1960's baseball pitcher and telegraphs every throw. In a game of inches, it just doesn't work.

I don't know about this guys. I like the guy. He's got talent. But he can't really help this year as the number two. Johnson has this O down.

That means he's a future player who will cost more than a little and take up a roster spot. That means a lot to me as there is a potential starter somewhere in that CB, S, LB, DL, OL spot that will be eaten.

Tough call.

Why would he be a third? If you're thinking it's due to him not learning the O quickly..........Gruden runs one of the most intricate offenses in the league. Hell, it takes the QB's 20 minutes just to call Gruden's plays in the huddle.

"Soft-left, jet right, 81 y-seam, 34 counter, 68 hard shift, slot right, 16 motion, hard slant, post jet, fly right on set."

Oh yeah........he will be cut. Didn't play a down in the 3rd preseason game. I'd much rather have McNown, for the record.

I would prefer Josh Johnson for the PS.

Signing Simms would mean putting him on active roster, and I just don't see him contributing this season.

Do you see BJ contributing this year?

Chris Simms is an interesting possibility for the Cowboys....a short-to-medium term option IMO. I also find it interesting Gruden has held on to him while not giving him any opportunity. How can you trade someone if you don't showcase their ability?

He came out of the 2003 Draft, so he shouldn't have to clear Waivers and would be released. Any team should be able to sign him, so if teams are interested than he can pretty much choose where he goes.

Unless some team offers Simms huge money or an immediate starting job, I think we've got a good shot at him. Don't forget OC Jason Garrett & Sims were together a few years back when Garrett was still playing. If the Bucs cut Simms soon & the Cowboys contact him, it's because of that connection.

There are a few teams that would add him to compete for the starting job, or at least a shot next year at the starting job. If any of them nibble, I think he'll go with them before he comes to Dallas and wastes 5 years of his life as a backup. I'd love to have him as a backup though.
