Pretty small sample size. The dude has not earned the bag he demanded. Not even close, but he is at least playing the run well.

He's earned every penny. Some here just don't get it.

Can't possibly be true, half the posters on this board have said he is trash.

Yup. I read you.

We know...Half the posters on this board intellectual capacity = trash.

It's kind of sad that we have the top run-defending DE and a subpar run defense.

Its all hype...DLAW has bitterly disappeared in 2022 and in the 2021 playoffs...everyone claims he is best against the run but that dont make sense when the defense gives up 200yds or more rushing a game.....but hey.....lets all give DLAW some love he doesn't get the recognition he deserves....Would like to see how the OP breaks down his stats.....sounds like agent fluff.....

Which translates to other team members rotating in-and-out of the other front-7 positions have been upcoming up painstakingly short the past five games or so.

People think Dlaw is paid what hes paid to sack the QB

hes paid to do whatevers needed and hes great setting the edge on run plays forcing the rb to cut back inside which is a NEEDED part of run stopping

Dlaw has been our best DLineman all season.
He's an amazing run defender. But the top paid d ends are expected to be great pass rushers. Hes about average when it comes to rushing the passer.

He should have much better pass rushing numbers with Micah on the other side.

That being said, I still love the motor and effort he plays with.

Great, but I would prefer if one of our tackles was our best Run Defender and our Edge Defenders were both at the top of the pass rushing charts. That's what is needed going forward
Exactly. You're d end shouldn't be your best run defender. And he is ours by a mile. This organization needs to finally pony up for stud big guy in the middle.

Paid to be a War Daddy pass rusher but now we have to spin some ridiculous stat to make him seem like anything but a cap eating bust. Lawrence had his best year in his walk season. Has been suspect since. The guy needs to be replaced.

Wait, but I thought according to all of the posters here he sucked?

He is statistically the best edge run defender in the NFL and puts up an elite pass rush win rate all while only being the 16th highest paid DE in the league after taking a team friendly pay cut but the bums on this site still hate the guy. We could have prime Tom Brady on this team and the forum would hate his guts.

Some of you are truly beyond saving if you can't aknowlege that DLaw is an excellent player. The complete disconnection from reality is astounding.

DLaw gets a lot of his run stops when he crashes towards the middle. But when the DT's are out of position his hard crash doesn't work. Our run defense up the middle has been decent lately, because our DT's have been staying home. But now, with everyone focusing on the middle, we've been getting gashed on the edges.

Two of our DT's, Bohanna and Hankins, are big enough to hold their own up the middle. But none of our frequently played DE's are big enough to handle their own on the edges. Point being, if a team isn't running it up the middle, DLaw and this defense isn't good at stopping the run. So once we start bleeding on the edges, our focus shifts, and they begin to struggle up the middle. After that happens it's all over, because play action comes into play.

We have some of the worst DTs against the run. It’s like we loaded up with guys who aren’t good at it, on purpose. It’s like the front office decided to be weak at something that teams do against you at least 40% of the time. On purpose. It’s amazing when you think about it.

We valued 3-tech types more, so that's what we drafted. The only 1-tech, run-stuffing types we've added are in the later rounds of the draft (Bohanna and Ridgeway). That means the likelihood of them being great at even that one trait isn't super high. We've tried hitting on these mid- to late-rounders at DT. Although that can happen, the probability of it is not that high. Even Quinn might have gotten spoiled some by hitting on Grady Jarrett in the fifth round while in Atlanta. Now, we did try for an early-round success with Tyrsten Hill, but that was a reach based on potential. We can't do that, but we need to prioritize the position and put ourselves in a good position to grab one where he's a good value.

DLaw has been near the top of the list for 5 or 6 seasons now. And when I watch the multiple goal line stuffs he's had this year, the only phrase that comes to my mind is "run defense savant." Shedding 4 blocks to make a stop against the Lions? Come on, that's just crazy.

25 sacks in the 2 seasons PRIOR to getting a fat new contract which paid him as a Top 5 pass rusher......20-1/2 sacks in the 4 seasons AFTER getting paid......say what you will about pass rush win % but NEVER use pass rusher and elite in the same sentence as Lawrence as he simply isn't.

PS

Micah Parsons has 26 sacks in 2 seasons with Dallas.......
