I looked at his numbers and compared them to another receiver.
He ran 4.54 at 218 6'3 3/8 Deandre Hopkins rand 4.57 at 6'1 214
20 yard shuttle 4.11 20 yard shuttle 4.5
vertical 35.5 inches Vertical 37
arm length 32 3/8 33 3/8
hand size 9 3/4 10

Whenever I see negative articles about a guys ability to run or separate, I look for receiver with similar numbers. If he's not great, it won't be because of his speed or size. It'll be because of him not working on routes because his stop and start quickness is better than an all pro as well as his speed.
I also read about him because I know Dallas doesnt draft receivers the run faster than 4.5.

Fingers crossed we draft Sutton. We need a big body receiver. Dak doesn't have the accuracy to throw to these little guys.

I really think they are hoping at least one of these guys fall to the second or fall enough for a short trade up that does not cost much.
Chances are most will not fall but maybe...just maybe one does.

Hopkins came into the NFL looking like a pro in college. He didn't measure up to everyone's standards, that's true, but he had game and he looked like it on the field.

Sutton has length. And had a lot of contested catches in college when he should have gotten a little bit of separation. He's just not very good at it. I don't really see dynamic at all. And I liked Hopkins a lot in that draft.

Now, if you said what if he was available in the 3rd, then yeah. Unless someone else fell. I think he gets majorly overdrafted. That being said, maybe he really takes to coaching and polishes up, gets quicker out of breaks, etc. I could see that too.

I disagree. Plenty of game tape showing Sutton getting separation, sometimes even wide open for the TD.

Fitzgerald didn’t deforested in college. He didn’t desperate much in the nfl.

Sutton’s shuttles are pretty fast. That shows change of direction. He has the quickness. He just needs the technique to run good routes.

Cowboys are currently stacked at WR, so they won't be drafting one until the late 4th or 5th at the earliest. This small school WR might be worth a risk that late.

Daurice Fountain, WR, Northern Iowa
Height: 6-2. Weight: 208.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.46.
Projected Round (2018): 3-5.
3/10/18: At the East-West Shrine, Fountain was the star of the East practice with impressive performances in all three practices. He had scouts buzzing across the league. His name was being passed along to scouts, directors, and general managers who weren't in St. Peteresburg to check out his tape - teams split their college scouting staffs between the East-West Shrine and the NFLPA all-star game. Fountain was very good in one-on-ones, showing the quickness, body control, and route-running to get separation from the cornerbacks. He also made plays in the team scrimmage while impressing in the red zone. As a senior, he totaled 66 receptions for 943 yards and 12 touchdowns. Surprisingly, Fountain did not receive a combine invitation.

4.46 at your pro day is about a 4.57 at the combine. I think they should draft a receiver early: Hurns has a 2 year deal. Beasley’s in a contract year. T will is numb sauce. Dez will be gone after this year unless he bounces back.

For some tracks but not all. Some tracks are slower, some are faster. You can figure track effects by looking at the discrepancy of times between a groups runs at the combine and said track.

You can also compare each players timves since all combine participants use the same track.

Cole Beasley had his best season with Dak.

Your critique should have been Dak can’t throw to receivers who run poor routes.

I think 2 is probably the max # of WR taken in the first round. My guess is you'll get a chance at at least one of those.
