Since MM took over would another coach have gotten this team to the NFC championship game by now?

I'd love to get McVey now and let him loose. However the Jones boys will never allow that.

who could dumb the offense down further?
We could try an old school approach:

Judging by some (Most) of the post on here you would think we went 10-24 the last two seasons and never even made the playoffs.

What are you guys saying? we went 12-5 two straight seasons and won a playoff game.

Last nights buttwhoopin not withstanding I'm cool with Big Mike and his performance

I think the Philly coach-niners coach and Mike Tomlin would of all had multiple Super Bowls by now if they were in Dallas as head coaches. And IF the Grim Reaper would stay upstairs out of the way.

Mike has done a great job. It’s not his fault he doesn’t have a great QB. You work with what you have and he’s won 26 the past two seasons.

Not a big MM fan. He's an old school rah rah coach who lucked into a great QB when he was in Green Bay. Most definitely not a chess master!

That said, the answer to the OP is no. This roster has a few shortcomings, and one very significant flaw. Coaches might add or subtract a win or two at the margin, but ultimately it boils down to the players/roster. This is not a championship roster, as San Fran illustrated so clearly.

Only way a coach can succeed in Dallas is to have contractually guaranteed autonomy.

As long as the Jones’ insist on playing “football guys” the lack of accountability and the constant validation of their decisions will hamper this team.

I don'r think we're getting back until Jerry kicks the bucket. We still also have Nepo-baby to go too..

I really wonder where the boys would be if/when they finally fired JG, if Jerry hired another coach and not another yes man would a different head coach have had the same results or at least taken this team to the conference title game. After disappointing season after season and you see the number of “pro bowlers” this team has had if a different coach with all this talent would have better success.
Nope, with Jerry large and charge
The Cowboys are not sniffing any playoff success.

Due to the current Country Club culture that permeates this organization, my answer is a strong NO!

I mean the problem here is clear, it's not 100% on coaching it's a front office issue. I think Mike if given any real freedom would have taken us to at least nfc championship with this "sometimes" good defense. It's just that he can't pick players or make any other critical desicion.
Save a lot of money playing front office personnel...neat.

Until the coach has full authority to hire all coaches and to bench players the Cowboys will always come up small.
Exactly. I will say it again. The organization has a fatal flaw that coaching or players won’t or can’t overcome. It is imbedded in the culture of an attention seeking owner who players know can at any time over rule the coaches and scouts. It’s the crushing media attention while not paying attention to details, it’s the best of everything from fasciitis to stadium while not having the grit and will to overcome adversity in big games and playoffs.

Nothing is everything but everything is something and we are the sum of our parts.

With any other organization the players and coaches are absolutely good enough to to get to a Super Bowl and even win but we will once again fulfill our destiny because the owner has made it so.

Until he’s gone and unless Charlotte takes over and leads us in a new direction I know will never see another Super Bowl and I hate the owner with every fiber of my being for feeling like that because I was born and have led my life believing in hope.

Great job? Is this sarcasm? If you call undisciplined, coming out flat in every big game along with poor clock management, and piss poor play calling a great job..sure

Absolutely not. Coaches can only do so much

It’s the players that have the most impact on the game.

Probably not. Tough winning championships without an Elite QB and or defense. And our talent is over hyped.

Just watch SF, Phil, KC, and top teams who have made or won SB in recent years , we simply don’t measure up.

We are what we are. A pretty good above average team extremely over hyped.
