Does it mean that if we sign someone like Holt, we can still have next year complementary pick for Canty?

I think so, as he was released by his team, instead of being a free agent....

Thanks, I didn't remember he was released.

Exactly.

Any player who was released by his former team does not count as a free agent signing for his new team.

So we can add Torry Holt if we want to and his asking price drops precipitously.

I'm hoping we don't need to, but if we lose Miles Austin it could put us in a pickle.

That's why I was thinking of Holt, if we lose Austin, we need a vet even if we draft one and I think Holt can help us this year.

Sounds like a good fallback position if we do lose Austin. Certainly, the timing on it would be important, ie, before the draft...

Austin isn't going anywhere. As soon as we let TO go his future as a Cowboy was sealed.

There are a whole bunch of names on there that I like, but not really the burner that would compliment RW

I don't know why but I've always like Drew Bennett...just don't think he'd fit here.

Joe J. is a guy I like, but he just cant stay healthy. Still, when he is in the game, the guy is basically Ricky Proehl Pt. 2

I would rather look at Joe Jurevicius if he has anything left that the others.
Control receiver.
