Singleton's loss hurts?

Fujita took 1/2 the reps from Als pre injury. This is how they phased Coakley out last year. Dat and Als are being phased out.

And the team is on track to get where we need to be - more than a perennial 5-11 losing team.

OLB is a big draft thought if there. If not FA, Fujita and Burnett are the answers next season.

Repeating it over and over won't make it true.

...that Fujita will be anything more than depth if Parcells has his way. I think there are issues there about footspeed to the corner. Fujita can't cover that assignment and there were at least two plays where he was exposed on that. The worst being Westbrooks run to the sideline for a first down and McNabb's lazy trot into the endzone. Both Fujita responsibilities.

He may get caught out of assignment and that may be due to inexperience in the scheme, but you can't gain footspeed overnight and sometimes thsi game all comes down to what you have physically on the table.

James was a liability every time he was on the field for Coakley. That was more of Parcells trying to see if James would ever get it, than it was the phasing out of Coakley. Coakley is gone because of his age and salary, simple as that.

The 3-4 is a defense that requires LBs to be the primary playmakers - our team is a very odd 3-4 because our best players are clearly on the DL and secondary. Only 2 players on the current squad have shown themselves capable of being long-term starters in this formation - Ware and James. Burnett is still a question mark but he has all the measurables that you could want in an ILB.

In the best case scenario we still need at least one more starter at OLB - this player will likely be drafted this year. We also could do with some more depth as Dat's career is in question, AlS getting old and the others have been pretty pedestrian (Shanle, Fowler, Fujita).

Doesn't anyone find it somewhat ironic that 3 years into a Parcells regime the big weaknesses on the team are LB, OL and STs (placekicking)?

If you ask certain people, if we had 45 Shanles on the team we'd be undefeated.

I like Shanle but he is not as good as Al at this time. I like Shanle's size but you can't replace Al's experience by putting Shanle in there.

We do miss Al.

But the up side is we are giving the younger guys experience and finding out if they can play. I hope the necessity of this does not cost up a playoff spot.

Als does nothing.

We give up 7 points against Detroit
We give up 17 defensive points against Denver

Fujita was taking 1/2 Als's reps all season.

Move on - there is no story there.

Long term we are a better team - Last years 4-3 LB's are for all intent and purposes buried.

Parcells stamp is being put on HIS Linebackers!

Funny - because LBer has also leapfrogged FS as the weakest position(s) on our defense.

At least he's not using caps to indicate that yelling will make him right alla Irvin and Ditka
