  • Patrick Ramsey has been released today, making him a Free Agent. Dallas is very likely to look into him.
  • Jacksonville probably set the market for players like Marc Colombo by giving newly-signed OL Tony Pashos $9 Million alone in 2007.
No way Jerry gives Colombo a deal that pays him 9 Million in 2007.

it depends on the length of the deal. if its a 5 or 6 year deal 9 mill doesnt prorate to all that much salary cap wise.

If Columbo gets $9 mil per year, I've lost faith in our front office.

Thats not an average, its the first year: signing bonus plus base pay in 2007.

I think if we are going after a younger quarterback in FA,( and by younger I mean someone not up there with Johnson or Collins) I would rather get Harrington over Ramsey. He is already familiar with Garrett and I think he's also more talented then Ramsey.

But Harrington didn't get cut (yet, at least).

I'd go with Ramsey, he has put up better numbers in the same amount of time as Harrington. I do agree that Harrington being with Garrett in Miami is a plus but I think Ramsey has the bigger arm and again has played better than Harrington.

Looked on the Jacksonville message board -- the numbers they are talking there are $9M bonus and a total of $24M/5 yr. I'd say pretty close to what I saw as Colombo's market value. I'd be happy to give him that deal.

I think Marc should remember what happened to the last Cowboys offensive lineman to defect to the Commanders.

My mistake, I thought that they had done it. I've been hearing rumors of it for the past 2 weeks.

If Al Johnson can get around $4 Million per year, then Columbo should get at least that much. AJ is probably as good at center as Columbo is at tackle.
And tackles are more valuable then centers.

Except the stats don't reflect that alleged superiority...

Ramsey has the higher career completion percentage, 55.7 to 55.2 per cent...

Ramsey has the higher yards per attempt average, 6.55 to 5.70...

Ramsey has thrown for 34 TDs and 29 ints, Harrington has thrown for 72 TDs and 77 ints...

Ramsey has put up a career quarterback rating of 74.9, Harrington's is 68.1...

So, what exactly is it that makes you think Joey is better than Patrick??

Because some goofy idiot paid Johnson 4 mill a year we should do the same for a guy who has played 1 season? What ever happened to a player proven themselves, Colombo had a good year playing a lot in a 2 TE formation. I would also hope he is a better tackle that Johnson is as a center, he was constantly being pushed backwards which is a big reason he lost his job.

We did NOT play much two TE formations the last half of the season. He was getting the job done without help most of the time. I figure that both AJ and Columbo could probably start for about 10 teams in the NFL; so their relative ability at their positions is about the same.

Johnson hasn't received a 4m/yr contract. It was just suggested in one of the articles posted.

I agree that while I don't think Columbo deserves a contract on the same level as Pashos after just one good year, due to the market, he may very well get it.
