Skilled players coming top 3 picks?

With the depth of this draft along the DL and at RB, this would be the yr to fix their run defense and ground game, but is starting to point to them drafting skilled, positional players:

-major buzz that they will be drafting a 1st rd wr
-have brought in all the top running backs
-rumors about Diggs not being ready and a possible June 1st release could mean they are hunting for his replacement

I would spend the whole class on fixing their run defense and run game. Find a stop gap at wr and at cb via fa.
It is not complicated

Trade down to 20-22 for a rd 2 pick

1. Golden or Tet
2a. DT/CB
2b. CB/DT
3. RB
5a. DT
5b. RB

What they don't do is take rb or wr high. It's time to get dak real talent to work with.
He's had that already. Considering the Cowboys lost 9 games by 27 or more last year, the smart play is to build a dominant defense to help keep games more winnable for Dak.

Additionally, there are lots of good RB's in this draft. They don't need to get one in the first two rounds.

It makes total sense. We can't run or stop the run.

So let's draft a WR and a CB in the first 2 rounds.

But they upgraded with Fowler opposite of Micah. He is good for 8+ sacks.

Kneeland is the run defender who will take over for Tank.

Murray / Sanborn are capable of taking over for Kendricks. He was washed out of way too many run plays.
Murray is a downgrade and is a guesser like Jaylon Smith was with zero instincts

He is aging but still solid, balanced player
Kendrick’s was a reason teams ran on the Cowboys. I remember he made Kalvin Kamara look like young Kamara against the Saints. He couldn’t stop the run or the pass against the running back.

That Saints disaster was that entire front

Out WRs aren't really the problem. TE is weaker than we want to admit, RB and oline. But it's not the receivers.

Defense needs players everywhere too.

Disagree, offense was a shell of theirselves last yr compared to the prior year. Ferguson wasn’t the same after and early injury and nobody other then Lamb did anything. They were one of the worst red zone offenses in the league, where they just kicked fg’s.

Defense was dead last in the league in red zone defense and gave up the most rushing touchdowns in the entire league. When your offense cannot score touchdowns and your defense cannot prevent them. No chance for success.

A player like T-Mac instantly helps your red zone issues, having a back who has a nose for the endzone also will help as Dowdle rushed for the least rushing touchdowns for a starting back.

No doubt the defense has to fix their rush defense and get better within the red zone , but they have to get more explosive on offense.

I think the first four picks will be some combination of WR, EB, CB, and DT.

I can't think of a single position that couldn't use additional help.

This is where I disagree.
Cowboys have spent numerous 1st round and 3rd round picks on oline.
They tried to get a Dt in the 1st. Osa was a 3rd. Kneeland a 2nd.
It's not like they just neglect the positions(besides the mazi pick)

Lamb was 1 st rounder who is a top 5 WR in the league and Zeke was a top pick who was pretty dam good than declined rapidly thanks to Garrett and 400 touches a season. Dak also had Amari Cooper. Schoonmaker was a 2nd round pick. Tolbert was a 3rd rounder. Ferguson is also good TE. Dak has players around him.
The Cowboys don't have a running game or a run defense. They need RB, DT, LB, OL it would be really stupid to draft another WR.

WRs are a massive problem on this team…we have 1 legit receiving weapon on the roster and bunch of guys that wouldn’t even play on contenders teams.

In a draft class filled with prospects that would help this team at DE, DT and RB, they find themselves needing other skill positions (WR, CB, S and OL) almost as badly and will probably get better value for those picks over the deep positions groups.
The good news is with so many holes I don't think they can make a wrong pick (very easily LOL!) so almost any position will be a team upgrade.
The question is will they finally take advantage of their draft position and take a stud 1TDT and get their run defense fixed? Or will the see the deep DT class and wait, or reach and miss yet again?
