So doesn't your quick shift to Pettigout lay some claim to the possibility that you guys really did need Davis? I've heard some Skins fans on here saying you really didn't need him (you know.. after the fact). Just curious.

We didn't need Davis, we needed a LG. Davis happened to be a lineman available in FA who we brought in for a look. We weren't heavily interested in him. A pretty good job by him and his agent to drive up his asking price by bringing Washington in the talks.

We weren't going to break the bank on Dockery whos a much better and up and coming player, what made the media think we'll do it on a bust like Davis? We've only brought in players familiar with our system this year. I doubt Dan will ever pull an Adam Archuleta ever again. Hes a changed man.

But with Jansen's injury woes of late, he might be an insurance policy...:geezer:
I have heard many people speculate that they might try and move him inside...l but who knows, only speculation. It would explain going after a tackle though

only problem is, we dont need a tackle, we need a guard :ralph:

personally, I dont know much about him, but I dont like hte way it sounds...
Most NFL Guards played tackle in college, so moving inside to guard is not that unusual. It's not a guaranteed home run either, guys have to learn to block lower and get used to having a stronger guy right in their face.

petitgout's not a LG either... you obviously need something on the OL. Face it, you lost out on Davis and Petitgout is Plan B... or C... or Q.

You do realize that Davis did play guard a few years with the cards...actually left guard IIRC before being moved to LT.

Luke Pettigout won't be brought in as the savior of our offensive line where as you guys paid Davis as if hes the next great thing.

:lmao2: at Bigg Fatt Bust being the richest guard ever. Don't worry, Robert Gallery will be available next year as well :lmao:

Ummm. Is this guy serious. Commanders fans should go away. What in the world do they have to gloat about?

You guys brought in Davis to look at for LG teams dont just bring guys in for fun.

You were interested in him which is why you guys negotiated with him.

As for driving up the price he went for less than what was speculated he wanted BEFORE he went to washington

changed man hahahahaha 10 mill guaranteed to a 32 yo lb

sorry to come in with the kind of off topic response, but 2 mil a year in SB + vet min will only come out to like 3 mil for the first couple of year, the only years he will be here.

Sometimes looking at the whole contract is a little mis-leading with Commanders contracts. Take a look at arch for instance. People reported that he was the highest paid safety ever. However, his base salary in the first couple of seasons is very low. So while the $30 mil seems like a lot, he will never see most of that money.

just thought I would add my little .02 :

You just beat me to it. Davis played guard and played it darn well, as a matter of fact. Dockery better than Davis? I don't think so. Davis is twice the athlete that Dockery is. That's why he went #2 overall.

Once Davis doesn't have to handle speed rushers he'll be able to really settle in and maul some guys inside. He's so incredibly strong and defensive guys can't avoid him inside.

I know how the skins do their contracts my point was just giving 10 mill guaranteed to a 32yo LB is bad IMO especially since there was nobody bidding against you.

I like fletcher but at his age i wouldnt gi ve a 10 mill bonus

Pettigout was a very good LT for years. Had problems with back spasms. As a former Irish star, I kept track of him even though he was a giant. He never played guard in college, and hasn't in the NFL as far as I can remember.

Should have known you'd instantly shill for any Jerry-inspired signing.

With the problems that the Giants have and then to have to cut Pettigout...AND THEN the RedStinks want to sign him?

Business as usual for the RedStinks...

Yes I am all for improving the Dallas Cowboys

As for "Jerry inspired" have a link to where he wanted LD and Wade was against it or is this more made up nonsense from you?
