Apparently, the Vikings waived him, canceled the waiver, and then traded him to the skins for a 7th rounder, conditional on him making the team.

LOL.

So the Vikings shopped him. No team in the league wanted him. As a result, the Vikings put him on the waiver wire.

Then the Commanders decide they want him, and bid against themselves by offering a 7th round draft pick--when no one else in the league was willing to offer anything for that bust.

And he'll make the team. If he has a pulse, he'll make the team. Anything is better than the losers the Skins are rolling out there.

So the idiot Commanders just gave up a draft pick for a guy they could have claimed off waivers the next day. Good job, idiots!

If James had ANY skills whatsoever, the Vikes would have kept him or got something more for him. Giving up on a first round draft pick and putting him on waivers shows that James has NOTHING.

My guess is that the Skins requested the Vikings take him off the waiver wire because they thought someone else above them would claim him. I have no idea if another team would have claimed him, but a conditional 7th seems reasonable. If he fails his physical, we get the pick back.
And all of what you wrote above equally applies to Pacman.

There were multiple coaches that expressed interest in Jones, but were afraid to pull the trigger.

We obviously went around and around trying to get a deal worked out. We got a very talented player for a 4th...you got nothing, and spent a 7th on it when you could have had him for free.

And he'll make the team. If he has a pulse, he'll make the team. Anything is better than the losers the Skins are rolling out there.

He'll make the team, but its' not because we have losers out there...and you know it.

Sounds like it.

Yep, this doesn't apply either.

Way to grasp the concept. The Vikings put him on waivers, but since it was a holiday weekend, the waiver doesn't go through until 4 pm on tuesday. Several teams contacted James' agent about putting in a waiver claim for his client. The Commanders were forced to talk to minnesota because waivers are proccessed in reverse order from your record of last year. This means 20 teams have priority to james over the skins, so they had to offer a trade.

way to keep trying to take a bash at them though. Grasp the concept of football first.

The trade was made possible because of the holiday weekend. With no waiver wire on Friday because of the Memorial Day holiday, the Vikings couldn't process James' release until 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Over the weekend several teams inquired with James' agents about putting in a waiver claim on the injured defensive end.

The Commanders were forced to act because off-season waiver claims are processed in reverse order of a team's record from the previous season, meaning 20 teams had priority over the Commanders. By making the conditional trade, the Commanders controlled James' rights.

Good call, but it doesn't change the fact you just picked up poor player, and spent a pick on him.

Well, they never expressed that "interest" to the Titans.

Jeff Fisher: "The Cowboys were the only team involved. There were no other teams that expressed any kind of interest in Adam."

My guess is that James saw Phillip Daniels was 35, and thought he'd have the best chance of contributing for the Skins. That's probably why his agent let the Skins know that if they wanted him, they'd have to trade for him. I still think Daniels will be the starter, but hopefully James can work his way back to health and be the primary backup.

You're right, they didn't. They knew they didn't have the balls to do it, so why bother contacting the Titans. If you think there weren't NFL teams that aren't interested in Pacman's talent, you're a fool.

At one point the were several coaches and scouts, that when asked about Pacman before the draft, essentially said as much.

I didn't realize we had an insider in our midst. And someone who knows the thinking of multiple teams too! If there were other teams interested, you don't think they would have called the titans to offer a conditional 7th, or ten baseball bats? Face it, no other team wanted him, no matter how talented he is.

You're really that dense? There were interviews and reports where team representatives stated that they were interested...but not for the price. You know, as in the price of bringing in his baggage? Comprende amigo?

I'm essentially agreeing with you and you're too dense to realize it.

I got it now. They were interested in Bizarro Pacman - Pacman without his flaws.

I think it's a good move. Low risk, potential high reward. If he can stay healthy, a change of scenery might be just what the doctor ordered.

Theres no doubt that he is nothing special. I think the skins are hoping that maybe he will be able to get healthy and contribute. He has only been in the league 4 years, and only one of those years he played more then half the games. in that year he played decently. Maybe he can put something together, but im not holding my breath.

This is a very low risk move, only putting a 7th round pick on the line. If he doesnt pass the physical, or doesnt make the roster after tc, then we get the pick back. And if we dont get it back, I wont lose sleep over a 7th round pick.

I don't necessarily think it's a bad move...I just don't think the potential reward is very likely. I have serious doubts that he'll ever shake the injury problems he's had.

...it does remind me of the Colombo situation a bit though...

Last week when it was reported they were going to release him that is the very player I compared it to and said bring him in and rehab him like Marc Columbo.

I can't bag on this move.

Colombo though always showed he was willing to work his tail off - has James ever shown that?

Ill-advised hold out and 2 knee injuries. I don't think the guy has had a chance to show he can work

He will be coached on the d-line by his former d-line coach in college. The guy who helped him become a first round pick

A conditional 7th rounder if he makes the team? Hell, I am sure the Skins will get a compensatory 7th rounder, or easily pick that pick back up. For a guy with some skill as a d-lineman, a 7th rounder is a no brainer
