PT,

There is a huge difference between the Commanders signing players like Jeff George, Bruce Smith, and Deion Sanders (whom by the way only played one year for the Commanders , 6 years ago) to now acquiring players like Lloyd, Washington, Griffin, Moss, etc.

Also it was painfully obvious that Moss and Portis needed some other viable threats last year. Thrash although a great ST player and team guy supposedly, is an average at best WR who isnt exactly getting any younger and Patten is even older (still hate that signing), Taylor Jacobs doesnt even need to be discussed now does he.

Big gaps on the OL ? At what position ? LT Chris Samuels, RT Jon Jansen, C Casey Rabach, RG Randy Thomas, LG Derrick Dockery. Now if you mean depth on the OL, I agree with you. but dont the Eagles, Cowboys, and Giants all face that same problem ?

Hmmm, good point there SaT. Perhaps I'm just a little jealous. But then, that impenetrable OL didn't stop Brunell from being sacked and injured; maybe you're right, depth is a factor. You guys may need some depth in the QB spot also.

Sure. And while I can't speak for the Cowboys and Giants, the Eagles are working on their OL/DL -- games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage.;)

You Guys will crank out another winning season -- but will your offense carry you into the playoffs, or the defense?

I'm hoping they dont get Abraham...that all we need, for Greg Williams to have a REAL pass rushing threat to use there...he's done an amazing job the last two yrs with clearly nothing more than average front 7 talent at best, adding a dominant guy like Abraham would make their D pretty stout

like it or not, they have a hell of a coaching staff and are adding good players, if Gibbs can get another yr like last yr out of Brunell and they get Abraham, they'll be in the drivers seat in the NFC East

David

Very true! The Skins will be very tough to contend with this season especially if they can get Brunell to be somewhat productive. People speak about the Skins not building through the draft, I actually like the moves they have been making, Clinton Portis is better than any back they would have gotten for the pick they used on him, as is Santana Moss and they are in their twenties! The Skins got proven YOUNG commodities instead of playing the NFL lottery that occurs each April, Instead of getting a Tony Dixon, Quincy Carter or Jacob Rogers with a 2nd round pick they are getting guys who have already produced in the league like Portis, Moss, Randle-El and now possibly a 26yr old John Abraham. They are getting better without aging. This is no where near the season they signed 30 somethings Bruce Smith and Deion Sanders. Those who equate the two are comparing apples and oranges.

Abraham is a monster, but he's not worth a 1st round pick the Jets will demand for him and the trillion dollars he's going to demand to be paid.

Current "big" names on the Skins:

Rogers - not "big" yet but soon will be. Definately a playmaker. Draft pick
Marshall - not "big" yet but soon will be. Played at a pro bowl level. Draft pick
Taylor - draft pick
Cooley - draft pick
Sameuls - draft pick
Jansen - draft pick
Thomas - FA but has played at a pro bowl level
Rabach - FA but played at a pro bowl level
Washington - FA but a pro bowler
Portis - FA but a pro bowler (snubbed last season)
Moss - FA but a pro bowler

I'm sorry....what was the problem about our "big names" again?

Talking to the GM for Wash on Sirius-Said Still looking for a DE(why Abraham is visting) but after done with the GM THe guys said NY looking for a 1st and maybe late round pick Skins dont have any picks to trade for Abraham. 2nd wont get it done.
So why bring in Abraham unless they trade Ramsey and picks maybe in next years draft but you all know about trading draft picks

I think the general consensus is that Abraham is a pipe dream for us. I think we used a visit with him to put some pressure on Andre Carter to sign quickly before meeting with other teams.
